| "poop" issues My 1 year old yorkie has had no issue with pooping or potty in the past. However, the last 5 nights he has decided that 1 AM is a good time to go out and poop. I have tried moving his dinner to 5PM, (from 6pm, then 5:30) yet still wakes us up to poop. He has never done this before, I am completely befuddled. I am not going to walk him more than I do now (its freezing here!) so I need a plan "B" please!! Maybe move dinner later? Thank you!! |

| Is potty pads an option? My yorkie uses potty pads and she goes outside. I live alone and I didn't want Duchess to wait until I got home to potty so I trained her on potty pads. She prefers to go outside so having both doesn't confuse her and she will wait to go outside but if I don't get home my normal time or she has to go in the middle of the night, she will use her potty pads. |

| I feed my guy at 6AM and again at 4PM, he use to eat at 7AM and 5PM, but he changed that schedule since I am up at 4 or 5 am. He will poop almost as soon as he's finished eating which most dogs it's usually 20 to 30 minutes or more. Potty pads are ideal in nasty winter weather, my guy is adopted, his prev. owners had him outdoor and pad trained so he knows what pads are for, we're together almost 5 years, I have a pad down for him all the time for the times I have to be gone for several hours. In 5 yeras he has used the pad 3 times, he prefers to make outside and he will hold it until I come home. At a year old he can be trained to use a pad for emergencies, they do sell something to spray on the pad so the dog will use it. I don't know what it is called, hopefully other members will chime in and offer up suggestions.
