| How long after neuter? How long did y’all keep your males on crate rest after being neutered? When Joey was neutered it was only him and Callie and she was not big into playing so he didn’t have to be crated but with Ollie it’s different because he has Penny who keeps trying to pounce him and play. Right now I have him in a play pen in the living room and he is miserable but not from pain just from being separated. The vet said take him out on a leash for 7 days but does he need to be in a pen that whole time? Opinions? Advice?

| Duchess maybe a unique case or maybe she just has a high tolerance to pain but she was playing when I went to pick her up from the vet. It had me wondering if they actually anesthetized her because she was so playful. I tried to crate her but she kept trying to get out and I was more worried about her stitches than her being in pain. She may have been sore but she definitely wasn't in pain. However I did limit her activities because of her stitches even though I took her out of the crate. But you have a pack of yorkies so they may not be an option for you. |

| We had to keep each of the boys on restricted activity for 10 days, per vet instructions. They were all bouncing around the next day, and the "restriction" was worse than the neuter! Luckily for them, we are retired, and at least one of us stayed home and mostly cuddled on the couch for one week. Their stitches were healed, and their incisions were clear after a week, so we allowed them to interact with their brothers, with supervision, after one week...no fetch or wresting though.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I never did cage rest for Wylie or Marcel - and they did great. I kept a close eye on them to make sure they weren't being nutty or anything, but in the end they were fine. It's amazing how fast they just snap back after the anesthesia is out of their systems.

| I was super strict and crated Scottie for 5 full days. He was a SUPER active bouncy jumpy puppy. I just couldn't risk him hurting himself. He was very very very sad in his crate with the cone of shame.

| He ended up escaping the pen on day four and I was terrified he was going to hurt himself more that way then by running around so I put the pen away. I only used the cone at night because he had no interest in messing with the surgery site luckily.

| Yikes! I would have a panic attack! That's good he's not interested in his stitches. Oh, I should mention I put on a human newborn onesie on both of them when they were spayed and neutered. It was useful so they didn't have to wear the cone all the time.

| My vet said the incisions was to small for stitches so I think they used like surgery glue. He goes back on Friday for his recheck but I think he is just about all healed up. You should go see my huge baby tooth thread about the monster tooth they pulled.
