| Help need a yorkie proof harness advice What harness do you use with a active jumping wild yorkie?? I just took her for her second walk and she jumped up twisted around and off it came! They said it was the smallest they had so I need a specialty one I guess. i make dog collars but want a harness for her but going to get a small collar with our phone number on it since she was running down the middle of the street. Only thing that stopped her was she was scared of a fire hydrant and wouldn't go past it. The groomer says she is a typical terrier (terror)but even she said shes never had a dog that will jump out of the tub or off the table...but Molly will. She can jump in our bath tub or on the bed and shes only 4 1/2 mo old! What brand do you all recommend?? Or maybe I should custom make her one to fit perfectly?? |

| I have found buddy belts to be escape proof. Obviously you don’t want to shell out all that money for a harness she will out grow but they do have the Buddy Belt 2. That is what I used for Joey when he was a puppy.

| I have heard nothing but good things about the buddy belt so that would be a good choice. We have clothes custom made for them and have a D-ring put in them so they double as a harness for walks. They are secure and look great on them.

| I also highly recommend the Buddy Belt. They have many sizes and half sizes, so you'll be sure to find something that's well fitted. At such a young age, I'd probably go with the Buddy Belt 2 (it's the same design but made with a faux leather made of PVC or something). Buddy Belt 2 doesn't come in half sizes, but they have small ones for puppies. You put it on like a belt buckle, so it can be adjusted as the puppy grows. Once full grown, you can buy the original Buddy Belt, made of real leather. They last forever, so it's kind of worth the high price. For me, it's something that's very important to invest in since I'd have a heart attack if my babies ever got out of their harness!!

| The collar with the tag on it is a good idea but only for identification. Yorkies should never be walked on a collar as they have very delicate tracheas and can be injured easily by a collar

| I have always used L'il Pals soft mesh harnesses when they were little. The smaller size fits puppies when they first came home, and was snug and secure for mine as little as 1 pound. They are quite adjustable, and strong enough to hold young ones. The next size up fit for quite awhile too. Since they are very reasonable in price, you do not lose a "major investment" when you have to replace them due to growing little ones! I totally understand the trials of finding the right harness as they get older. Mine, at the moment, wear two different brands. Tyrone, my parti, is very slender with long legs. He can pull his legs out of the leg holes of many mesh harnesses, and must be watched like a hawk before he is set down on the ground after a car trip. Gus, my little cottony coat, has a much harder time slipping his harness due to his thick hair. Even with a puppy cut he has not yet left the harness behind.
