| Yorkies don't like new dog I have 2 Yorkie's, Peppe and Bella. My boyfriend recently got a Labrador retriever Pup, and my Yorkie's are not a fan. Peppe is OK follows him around and sniffs him, but Bella will not even look at him, and if he comes close to her she growls and will even try to bite him. I am hoping they will get along as we plan on moving in together next month. Peppe and Bella didn't get along when we first brought home Bella, but now they are inseparable, i can only hope the same for our new fur baby. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do? |

| Maybe take some walks together. It may just take sometimes. My oldest took 3 months to accept my youngest.

| Its been a few months now, and our two boys the lab and little peppe get along OK, but my Yorkie Bella ... refuses to accept Diesel (the lab) he is so sweet and just wants her to love him... every time she sees him she shows her teeth and actually bites him, luckily he is so gentle and just turns away. As long as he is not near her she is OK ... I really hope she comes around... |

| Keep giving it time. In most cases they will eventually come around.

If it's not working, give her something more yummy! It'll work eventually. Scottie did not like Casie when she first came home. I did this on a very regular basis until he would tolerate her existence and then tolerate her being within a meter from him, etc. Then, I only gave them treats if they'd sit still in the same dog bed. At first I was in awe that he didn't mind that they were side by side on the same dog bed. But they're pretty funny. There's a certain order it has to happen. He has to be on it first, and then he's okay if she joins the bed. If she's on the bed first, he somehow signals for her to get off, then he gets on, and then she gets on. LOL... Anyhow, they still don't cuddle, but they both coexist now and will play with each other daily. As others mentioned, it does take time. Each pup is different, so it could take Bella a lot longer. But, keep at it and make sure you positively reinforce her whenever she's near Diesel. Even if it's just for a brief moment. If she does any kind of biting actions, make sure you tell her it's not okay. Do a firm "NO". You have to let her know that as the big human boss, you will not tolerate any violence between them. If you don't, it could potentially escalate into something more, which you don't want. I'd also make sure to keep them separated when you're away. I've read enough sad stories about pets injuring each other while the humans are away. It's very scary... you wanna make sure to avoid this at all cost.

Bella Does love treats, but horrible with training she wont even take the treat if I try to make her sit for it she just backs up ... she is so feisty. I am willing to try anything at this point and will try the treat thing. I really appreciate your help and will keep you updated on how it goes. Fingers are crossed. I love all my fur babies and hate that I have to keep 2 of them separated. Come to think about it when I brought Bella home, Peppe and her did not get along at all, constant fighting between the two of them to the point I was also scared to leave them alone together but now its nothing but love between the two of them, I actually cant take Peppe out of Bella's site for a few minutes without her in a panic! Hopefully she will come around for Diesel ... I was also thinking is it possible she is scared because he is so much bigger then her? | |

| Piper is food motivated, but in order to ensure a response, I have to bring out the heavy ammo, like real chicken tidbits and/or bits of chicken jerky. Piper is full of the dickens, too, and will drop her little noggin and sulk off--or she just ignores my request! Such tiny monsters--little lovable and always forgiven! |

Here are some useful clicker training tips: https://clickertraining.com/15tips I suggested to keep them separated as a temporary measure, only until they start to tolerate each other, which it will happen eventually with proper training from you. The first time I left my two home alone together, I set up cameras and watched them remotely. When I discovered that all they do was sleep in their dog beds, it helped to reaffirm that they'd be okay at home. Not that they'd attack each other, but more so that I knew they wouldn't destroy my home while I was gone. LOL

| I have never heard of this clicker training... to be honest i just had to google how a clicker for dogs looked LOL! I think its something worth the try, can you buy at the pet store, or maybe ebay Ill check out? I often think to myself is it possible to train a dog that has been so set in her ways for over 6 years? We went to the vet yesterday and while in the waiting area this sweet Maltese wanted to play and Bella wanted nothing to do with her, and started to get annoyed and eventually showed her teeth... |

| I recommend getting a clicker similar to this one : https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003B...C75M3905D9HR1C I believe you can definitely train an older dog. To them, it's quality one on one time with you! Make it fun and positive. And don't get frustrated. <--this is key. The second you find yourself frustrated, stop and take a break. The clicker is great. Once you learn to use it correctly, you can train them to do almost anything!! Even now, my oldest is 4 years old and whenever I take out the clicker he gets super excited - like it's playtime with mommy!! I watched a lot of videos, and like this channel "kikopup". Here's one she does for training sit stay with clicker training. https://youtu.be/ksBLKi6lj1s

| Oh just realized you're a fellow Canadian. Here's the .ca https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B077PZ...UWL&ref=plSrch Oh and I totally get the not friendly with other dogs thing. That's something I never was able to train my two out of. Haha... They're not perfect, but close enough.

| So it’s been several months now and Bella still doesn’t like our lab. She actually foams at the mouth how much she hates him... I don’t know what else to do besides try to keep them apart. Our lab just wants her attention and she won’t have it 😞 |
