I love all my fur babies and hate that I have to keep 2 of them separated.
Come to think about it when I brought Bella home, Peppe and her did not get along at all, constant fighting between the two of them to the point I was also scared to leave them alone together but now its nothing but love between the two of them, I actually cant take Peppe out of Bella's site for a few minutes without her in a panic! Hopefully she will come around for Diesel ... I was also thinking is it possible she is scared because he is so much bigger then her?
As Jkpal mentioned, you may need heavy ammo. If Bella is 'horrible with training', maybe try to fix it? Get her interested with yummier treats and a clicker. When training my puppies, I always used a clicker. It's the most consistent way to get their attention. Don't go clicking crazy. Only click when they do what you want and then give them a treat right away.

I suggested to keep them separated as a temporary measure, only until they start to tolerate each other, which it will happen eventually with proper training from you.

The first time I left my two home alone together, I set up cameras and watched them remotely. When I discovered that all they do was sleep in their dog beds, it helped to reaffirm that they'd be okay at home. Not that they'd attack each other, but more so that I knew they wouldn't destroy my home while I was gone. LOL
