Arrggh. I slept in! Just called. Bad news is he's older than I wanted. A 5-year-old rescue whose owners moved away. Good news is he has been vet-checked and has a health guarantee and return policy.

Sooo, I don't know what to think. I wasn't the first caller, so they're going to call back if a 10:30 appointment doesn't want him.

I'm leaning against it, but will let you guys know...

5 isn't bad. You could have a potential great 8 to 10 years, give or take. But go with your heart and head.

There's nothing wrong with a 5 year old, he's still got 8 - 10 years, maybe more, left in him! Let us know what happens!

Hmmm, you guys think so? I'm just wondering if he'd boss Eddie around. I always heard it's nice for the second dog to be younger so your first guy (favorite!) doesn't get pushed around. Maybe that's just silly.

Oh well, I'll play it by ear. They probably won't even call back.

I know what you mean about not really wanting an older one. Personally, for me, I like having the puppy-one year age so I can be sure I get the adequate training, socializtion, and everything that comes so much easier with a younger guy. But go with what you think is best for you, your own furbaby, and your family.

Sure, rub it in! It's all YT's fault, too! I was up too late exchanging posts with Jaspermom about the dog she might get for $200. Hmmm, think she duped me and got my dog????

Nah, I was leaning against it when I heard the age. Not that 5 is old, but I like the idea of training them from a pup. Oh well, next time I'll get an alarm that works.

I can't see anyone selling a dog without letting you visit a vet and making sure it is healthy.

I would ask to do that. If they wouldn't let me to do it, I'd pass on getting the dog.

PLUS - anyone selling a dog should be upfront about it's health in the first place. And -- they should let you know honestly why they can no longer keep their dog ---- but, it might be a pup. Wouldn't that be great!

Being that you are SUCH a GREAT trainer, I agree with you that you would truly enjoy a pup! But you know older dogs can be re-trained as well, so don't completely rule it out. Financially and older dog is a better deal, so I have noticed.

LOL, happy you enjoyed your wine A LOT!!! I think we can all chip in and get you a new clock if you want!
