Soft dog stool?

Her poop has been solid enough that it retains shape, but it's moist enough that when you pick it up or try to-- it becomes a mess and instead of picking all of it up-- most of it gets spread around the ground even more.

Just to note, she is fine on her food, it's not the food as she was transitioned very slowly. She just drinks 2 bowls of water a day and I think that might be it(though the bowl isnt huge). Sometimes she just drinks 1.5 bowls, and on hotter days 3 bowls are possible.


I've been thinking about using the product "Poop freeze" but some people are saying bad things about it-- to be honest the idea sounds good because I think they're using liquid nitrogen which would essentially freeze up the poop.

Obviously, one should take the dog back inside -- somewhere secure like a crate and then come back outside to use the spray so that the dog isn't tempted enough to get close to it. As dogs don't understand these complex things I thought it'd be good to let it through.


What do you guys use? Please don't suggest the water + soap as I want to avoid possible water contamination (the last thing I want to do is be the cause of some household crisis), it's a good idea and it works it's just not the appropriate one for the current situation.


Please enlighten me, the sooner the better. I was thinking maybe I could carry around some baking soda with me and drop it on the poop and it might absorb the moisture enough to be able to pick it up... But not sure if its a good idea or if itll contaminate the water should it seep thorugh.

Goo Gone. It 's the very best thing you can use. My father was a commercial floor installer for over 25 years, until his knees gave out. Goo Gone was his recommendation to me last year, and I didn't even finish my sentence before he said it. Chewie's first bout with very, VERY, nasty gastroenteritis- her first bout- made her leave the biggest mess behind my chair, which upset her so much she was crying. Any way, Steaming, no matter what I tried over the next two months worked. I put that on, and it came right up. My daughter.. sigh. She's.. lazy. Nicest term to use. I went into her room with husband and found piles that she didn't clean up under her clothes. I used that and it came up- along with a urine/poop smelling neutralizer. Worked like a champ.

We have switched foods on multiple occasions, either due to a pickey eaters or soft stool. Tried and switched from Royal Canin, to Natural Instinct, to high protein Wellness, to oatmeal Wellness then finally to Welcome Home. I feel like every food I tried was pretty highly recommended but my babies just either did not like it or it did not agree with their systems. Every dog is different and in the end we like the Welcome Home (from the company that makes Lotus but less expenbsive) the best. I can only find it at choice pets, was recommended by an employee there, relatively new so not many reviews on it but ultimately my boys really like it and they have perfect poop

To be honest switching foods constantly seems kind of silly.

I was recommended by the vet to give her a spoonfull of pumpkin. It's been improving her stool.

Pumpkin is the wonder food it can fix runny poo and constipation. I always keep some in my cabinet.

Definitely! I always keep pumpkin in my freezer (freezing the canned pumpkin into ice cube tray).

She treats it like kid would treat an ice cream cone. Loves it. Which is weird she usually hates veggies. Tried one spoon it only made it a bit firmer. So now I give her 2 spoons and a half. So that it works.

It seems kind of silly to stay with a food that gives your dog soft stool and blame it on water instead of finding a food that actually gives your dog healthy stool but do whatever works for you.
