I never used revolution but I used frontline and Advantix and both made her lethargic and act like she wasn't feeling well. I agree - I hated the topicals because of the forgetting not to touch him there (plus my sister is 9 now, but when she was younger, I would have to remind her not to touch the dogs there). Also, in the summer, when the meds are needed the most... Jax is in our pool almost every day. It's hard to keep him out because he goes and lays on the step voluntarily. And I think you are supposed to wait 48 hours before getting wet for the topicals to work properly.

I was sooo happy when Nexgard came out. Now we are using Simparica which is similar but covers a few more types of ticks and my vet recommended it so we get it from her. It was a bit cheaper too She did not have a problem with Nexgard, she was just trying to help me save a bit of money with another very safe drug that she trusts.

I use Heartguard for heartworms with no issues.

Revolution has a two hour dry time before bathing or grooming the dog. See https://www.zoetisus.com/_locale-ass...nformation.pdf under "Administration." I don't have any issues with any of the other heartworm treatments (except for Trifexis, which has a bad track record on safety). The only reason we're still using Revolution is because that's what the vet started Bella on when she was a puppy, and she tolerates it well. Also, it treats for a variety of pests including heartworm, ear mites, fleas, and dog ticks. Not all varieties of ticks, though.

Oh, nice. Two hours is more do-able.

I don't know why but I've never been comfortable with the all-in-one treatments for heartworm, fleas, ticks, etc.

I just prefer to treat with separate medications. We usually do Heartguard on the 15th of the month and when needed flea and tick meds on the 1st of the month to spread them out a bit.
