I put Joey on it when he reached 4 pounds and he has done very well on it and he can be kinda sensitive. My grandfather had a hard time remembering not to pet where the topicals were also. It all gets in the blood stream anyway. I had heard some issues with topicals making dogs feel like they had things crawling on them maybe that's what's going on with Bella.
I agree - I hated the topicals because of the forgetting not to touch him there (plus my sister is 9 now, but when she was younger, I would have to remind her not to touch the dogs there). Also, in the summer, when the meds are needed the most... Jax is in our pool almost every day. It's hard to keep him out because he goes and lays on the step voluntarily. And I think you are supposed to wait 48 hours before getting wet for the topicals to work properly.

I was sooo happy when Nexgard came out. Now we are using Simparica which is similar but covers a few more types of ticks and my vet recommended it so we get it from her. It was a bit cheaper too She did not have a problem with Nexgard, she was just trying to help me save a bit of money with another very safe drug that she trusts.

I use Heartguard for heartworms with no issues.
