Is it ok to put my Yorkie down?

Please consider a rehoming. I just adopted two seniors and they are a delight. I hope you will find a rescue. The rescues from which I got ours have more seniors because they are harder to place, but they lovingly care for them until a match occurs.
Maybe someone on this forum know a great Rescue in your area.

I just checked. You live in NJ. There is a wonderful Yorkie rescue in NJ. They are very careful about their placements. When I applied, I had a written questionnaire, a long phone conversation, and a home check. Sorry, I forgot to mention reference checks, including my vet. Then they allowed us to meet by little man.

My accusations and assumptions aren't baseless or without any merit; I simply explained to them as to why there is hostility around.

Maybe their intentions weren't that- you're right I don't know the OP, I wouldn't really know for sure. One can only guess to put things to rest.

I maybe wrong, but isn't this a forum where one comes talk, or ask questions about the special animal they oh so love? So wouldn't coming on here and basically coming out and essentially saying "I didn't properly train my dog, now my dog is causing me grief because I never bothered to completely train her I want to end her life as it is causing some discomfort and work in mine" be like punching a european fire ant mound and leaving your fist there?

I just think their words could have been carefully selected at least if they wanted to avoid confrontation. They made it seem like the dog was a burden because they didn't train it, and because they and their son are getting tired of it they feel like possibly putting it down.


But to be honest, the deed could already be done by now.

I understand. I think that the OP didn't understand how passionate Yorkietalk people are about their dogs. I'm afraid that they may have been overwhelmed by the response and left us. I think that they were truly hurting over a difficult decision and not intentionally trying to be provocative. I wish they had stuck around for the whole thread, because there was a great deal of diversity in the replies, and some good advice given for humanely dealing with the incontinence and extending the dog's life if that was an option. Also, the OP could have posted more information that would have helped us give more specific beneficial advice. OP, if you're still reading this thread, we'd be grateful for an update.

oh my God I would give anything in the world to have my two huskies & two labs alive again with me. I miss each of them everyday and only wish I had them still with me.
When I had to put my first huskie down at 9 yrs old due to a liver desease and illness. It killed me literally. I never ever want to make that decision again. I felt guilt and pain for the past five years remembering his last moments alive with me. I believe only God decides who lives or dies. The memory has haunted me even though it was the right thing to do for my dog. I would have carried this 80 lb guy on my back if it would have helped. He was suffering and I out of love for him couldn't bare to see him in pain and not have his quality of life any longer, so because I loved him with my heart and soul I did it for him not for me!, and believe me it killed me and broke my heart. so if you can sleep at night go ahead and be God, if you truly loved this dog you will feel deserved guilt. Say a prayer and I can only pray you make the right decision After all her life is in your hands. Packer's mom.
