| Welcome to YT, it's very hard to tell if a dog is a silky or a yorkie when they are wee lil puppies. She looks like an adorable yorkie, that is not to say she cannot be a silky, as she reaches adulthood her body growth will tell what she could be. 1-Did you see her parents, do they look like yorkies. 2-what makes you think she could be a sliky. 3-Why do you have this puppy at 6 weeks old. By LAW dogs can be sold at 8 weeks old.

| Her parents both look yorkie with long hair. I was reading about the breed and was interested in opinions. Her parents are both akc yorkie show dogs. I have not taken her home yet she is staying with the breeder until 10 weeks. I have been visiting and have pics. She is the smallest of the litter and most likely will not be over 3 to 4 pounds per the breeder. Thank you |

| Thank heavens she is still with the breeder, momma and her litter mates. A Silky is a breed, now if you are asking about a Silky breed or will her hair be silky or cotton coat. Your question is kinda confusing lol, if you saw the parents and they are yorkie show dogs, what would make you ask is your puppy to be looks like a silky?

| Silky and Yorkie seem so similar in breed it's confusing. What are their distinctive differences? They are hard to tell apart and I was just wondering if mine could be part silky too. This is my first yorkie |

| The Silky breed has the same characteristics as a yorkie, is a hunter, very mischievous, loves to tease ppl, same as a yorkie lol. However, the Silky is a larger dog weighing well above the 5 / 7 pounds of the standard yorkie. Their muzzle is long and pointed, their hair coloring is the same as a yorkie, their hair growth grows an inch or two past their body, it will never grow long to the ground, hair is very silky. Very similar to a yorkie but a larger dog. You will have to wait for your puppy to grow to an adult before seeing if she is a Silky. There is very little difference except they are just bigger, have a pointed muzzle and hair does not grow long.

| she looks cute, hehe. I want to snuggle her. I'm not trying to steal the post; I'm going to post a picture of chews the night we brought her home so you can see that they can all have different fur. My baby girl most definitely didn't have super thick hair like that- and she's all yorkie. she did, however, look like a walking cotton ball that had stuck it's finger in a light socket. any way, you'll see. |

| It's very hard to mix dogs and get AKC papers so the pup is probably full yorkie.

| Piper is 9 lbs and the office staff/techs have her listed as a silky on papers at veterinarian's office. However, more people than not have said she's all Yorkie. So far as I'm concerned, she's 100%, pure Piper and everything I could possibly wish for...! Enjoy your new baby; she's looks perfectly precious! |

| AKC registration papers are sent out on the honor system, basically, you can take the papers/registration number from a deceased dog to get registration slips for a litter, you can claim your dog had more puppies than they actually had and just give them out with an unregistered pup around the same age, etc. No one is coming out to visit new litters with dna test to prove the lineage of the pups, the only way to be sure would be to test the parents and the pup to make sure they are related. |
