You're in my thoughts, please don't apologize at all. If this were a different forum I would say more. On a happier note, they make it easy for us to spoil them!!! I'm glad you got so many great suggestions for him to stop snoring! My way with my husband (when he's too damn "tired" to use his apnea machine) is to shake shake.. then he does SNARK! SNORT! and then I get a blissful 20 minutes of reprieve. that was the only suggestion I had, lol. | |

| Thank you for your compassion. I ordered a sling to carry him in because I can't give up my 3 mile walk, when it gets warmer. Of course he will walk a lot, but just in case. I bought him the Nylabone round ring chicken flavor teething bone, then read it isn't good for him so I took it away. Don't know what to give for teething. Should I give it back to him? Feel FEAR to give him anything even though I read up on these dogs. Any help again I appreciate. I'll try and get a picture of him to upload, too cute. |

Assuming he's had at least one-two sets of vaccines at this point? My vet was 100% okay with me having Jackson outdoors in safe areas after his 2nd set of shots. Have a conversation with your vet about it. We have our own yard so that does help vs. an apartment complex. There has to be a good balance. I can't even imagine if I had kept Jackson cooped up indoors until 16-20 weeks old! He had experienced snow by that point, my dads healthy vaccinated dogs, grass, mud, rain, etc! There is a critical socialization period in puppies and that "ends" so to speak around 16 weeks old. Exposing the pup to many different things in a healthy reasonable way so that they are set up for the best for the rest of their lives. Of course I think reasonable precautions should be taken. I'd stay away from heavily populated dog places, like dog parks, pet stores and the like. To be honest, I think they have more of a chance of catching things at a vets office. Many don't let pup touch floor at the vets. I think puppy classes can begin when the pup has had two of the series of vaccines as long as there isn't anything going around. I'd check around and make sure there aren't any cases of parvo going around in the area you take your dog. Socialization at this age is usually very structured, only exposing the puppy to puppies and adult dogs that are healthy and temperamentally safe with a young pup. But it's insanely important to get a new puppy out and about to experience positive exposures to the world he's going to be a part of. And of course, socialization should continue throughout the dog's life (many people get adult dogs that lacked socialization and it has to be worked on of course). But that early critical period is often essential to create a well adjusted dog. Talk to your vet. My personal feeling is after the 2nd set of vaccines, they are much safer and I'd be willing to expose them to more situations to set them up for a happier life in the long run if possible. Just have common sense and be smart about it. I've known people who are not the brightest and bring 8 week old puppies into Petsmart, and everywhere, and I don't think it's a good idea at all however all their dogs turned out fine.

Some people feel Nylabones are the safest, others think they are disgusting plastic that is 'unnatural' to your dog , some love bully sticks, others think they are teeth breaking wasted calories. Some refuse to ever feed rawhide whereas others think in moderation it's fine. Puppies usually need *something* to chew on, so again, maybe have a talk with your vet about what they think may be appropriate. Once your pup gets older, they should definitely be able to handle a 3 mile walk. I have a bigger boy, at 18lbs, but he can walk for miles and miles. My friends 4lb Yorkies walk just as far as he does. So as the puppy gets older just gradually work up to longer distances. They are terriers after all and may be small but they are feisty!

You don't have to explain yourself. I got Jackson when I was 18 and he was the best thing I did for myself after my brother died. He is 8 now and I am 26 and he has brought me more joy than anything I could've imagined. He is my every day adventurer and pal.

| By the way circumstances made me move from a beautiful house into a beautiful apartment. There are apts and there are apts. some can't afford where I live so don't let the title 'apt' fool you. Even the Ritz Carlton has apts. There is an area here for dogs too but I wouldn't put mine where every dog was. I tend to go in another direction. |

| True. I'll give it back to him. It's not the colored plastic it's the chicken color one. I'll try. I hear give them an ice cube to play with too. Maybe outdoors. |
