Like others have said, collars w/ tags are SO very important! Absolutely get one (as well as a microchip). Collars are safe as long as you don't pull on them AND they fit properly. You do not want them too loose. You only want to fit approx your pinky finger btwn the collar and their neck. Too loose collars are very dangerous.

It is extremely important. I found a dog in my backyard one day and fortunately he had a collar with tags. Because he almost got hit. I brought him in the house (he was extremely friendly) and I put him in the laundry room until his owners were able to come get him

Without his tags, he would of be lost to his owners probably for good.

I actually got a tag that loops into the collar so it does not hang down. I was worried about my dogs tags getting catch in the gate. I actually found it on Amazon. I customized what I put on the tag and that is what is on their collar now.
