All about the collar! Hi there! I have two little ones Chase 4lbs & Bella 5lbs I only use soft harnesses while out and about & for walks in regards to collars I have many, many very cute collars I purchased very early on and do not use any one of them after reading all the stories and info on collapsed trachea. Lately I really have been wanting to put their tags with all our info on them along with a bell... I haven't because I am afraid to.... are there any soft collars you can recommend? Cute soft collars that are safe? I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this... Thank you! |
I use a breakaway cat collar for Duchess. It has tags on it with just a number. I use a harness for walking but her collar stays on 24/7 days a week. Get a breakaway collar, that way you don't have to worry about her collar getting caught on something a choking her. |
I use collars with a break away clasp, tags and sometimes bells are on the collars. Harness is used for walking. |
Having a collar with tags on them is extremely important. I like collars by yellow dog design I buy mine at Shop Dog Collars, Tags and Leashes | Dog Collar Boutique. They are very soft and not to thick. |
My boy is 12 pounds, I get his collars at Pet Supplies, they are cloth not plastic or leather. Collar for tags only. |
We use a harness only. My little boy is about 9 lbs. not sure how we would do it if he was a toy yorkie |
We use the Buddy Belt harness and their dog tags hang off the harness. Because they have long hair, I take their harnesses off at home. I should also note that we live in a condo, so I feel like we don't have a risk of them running out the front door without their tags. Scottie is 5.5 lbs and Casie is 4 lbs. |
I'm part of a lot of local facebook pages that post a lot of lost and found dogs on their. Well I was surprised by how many didn't have a collar. There is always a chance your dog could get out and wouldn't you want them to have id on them so you could get them back asap. Lots of people don't know about chips and if they do it is a trip somewhere that they may put off, but you are freaking out about you dog. Its so much easier to have a tag with your cell number on it. Some of the things people don't think about is what if a repairman comes while your gone and accidentally lets them out, what if a family member who has a key comes over and they slip out the door, what if there is a serious weather issue like a tornado that damages part of your house when your gone and they get out, what if someone breaks in and lets them out, or what if you think you gates in your back yard are shut and you let the dogs out and someone had opened them. There are so many things that could happen so it would be easier and safe to just tag them. It's very rare that bad things happen with collars. Collars themselves also do not cause CT and you can put a collar on a dog with CT just don't pull on it. Please collar and tag your dogs. |
Collars are very important! ^ as stated above by Taylor. Plus, stylish... LoL!! Jackson has WAY too many... I get leather ones from Ella's Lead or Paco Collars. Fabric from CollarMania, usually. I have tags from Fetching Tags. Easy to read, lightweight, last forever, deep engraving. |
