Also, I know you will be wanting to show him off but it's best to not take him out & about till he is fully vaccinated. I don't know how big or small he will be but it's a good idea to get some nutra-cal to have on hand just incase you need it, it can save you a trip to the vet if he has a hypoglycemic attack. Hopefully he's a good eater & will not need it. Always remember IF you can't get him to eat maybe because he's in a new strange place & he's missing mom & siblings & this often happens, anyways boiled chicken usually does the trick. If he gets constipated you can give him PURE canned pumpkin, green beans OR apple. I often use apple & I like it because it has pectin so it works for both constipation and the squishies too. I see someone posted about jumping off furniture & I agree 100%. I taught my girl when she was a puppy WAIT, so she will not jump off furniture and my DH made me an awsome ramp out of plywood & 2x4's & I covered it with carpet for our bed. I prefer ramps to stairs as they get a jolt to their little bodies with stairs & over the yrs that adds up & can cause neck & back issues as well as the knee problems, so it's a good idea to start rite off with what ever you plan to use as often when they are older it can be hard to get them to use ramps or stairs. Teach him from the get-go to stay away from the front door so he doesn't run out the door. Having a baby gate at the front door is always a good idea too.

My eyes are as big as half dollars right now they just have to be lol I actually took a screen shot of everything you said....I bow down to your greatness! NO ONE that asks questions to give their baby a SAFE home to live in and a safe life is ever "annoying" it shows concern for the new baby soon to enter your life, you're gonna be a GREAT fur mom. We all at one time were new moms and made unknowingly mistakes, before computers and internet all we had were books. Getting hands on advise, suggestions from yorkie owners is priceless. So you ask what ever concerns you and you will get answers from members that have had personal experience's.

Awwww thank you! I will never take the advice I get here for granted...i pray you're right and that I am a great fur mom! I had zero knowledge of yorkies I began reading and researching a little online and decided it was definitely what I wanted..without YT I would be bringing him home with way less confidence I wish I could fast forward the next two weeks

I know the waiting time is awful but the benefits of getting your baby at 13 + weeks is so beneficial for the puppy and you. I have had several breeds before loosing my heart to yorkies. To me a yorkie is like no other breed I have ever had, they have personalities, lil quirks that are just so cute, they are little clowns that love to show off lol, it's is like having a toddler instead of a dog. They can capture your heart in a blink of an eye and before you know it THEY have YOU trained without you even knowing it lol. You will fall in love with this little baby and he / she will be your heart. When you get a yorkie, life as you have know it will be over lol, and that's a good thing. Be patient, prepare your home for this new kid and the next few weeks will fly by.

The waiting is definitely the hardest part but I just wasn't comfortable bringing him home before I felt he was ready...I'm even excited to potty train the little guy I hear it's tough but I'm still looking forward to giving him praise when he does catch on lol....we haven't tackled a name yet I think we're going to let my niece who lives a few hundred miles away (recently moved) name him it should be hilarious to see what she comes up with

lol, you are too funny. And NEVER annoying to ask questions, that's what we do here and very happy to see a new puppy owner wanting to keep their baby safe & healthy. I wish all new owners could find YT BEFORE they purchase or adopt a new pup as it could save a lot of heartache for them & us & suffering on the pups part.

I'm addicted to YT....100% serious! My laptop is broken and I've been using my phone for the past week or so and it's harder to navigate this way....it really did help guide me in the right direction I was more prepared when it came to meeting with breeders...I knew things to look for that I probably wouldn't have given a thought before reading about it here

Potty training, now that's my specialty, lol,. I constantly hear stories of how hard yorkies are to potty train, WHAT ? I just don't get it. I have had yorkies most of my life & never have I had a problem potty training them or any other dog that has been through my door & there have been many, many dogs/puppies as I rescue anything that needs a home & many that don't. Persistence is the key AND I tell them go potty/poop WHILE they are IN the act of going potty/poop & after they finish they get a good boy/girl that was a good potty/poop & we go straight in the house for a treat. I think sometimes people don't take them out often enough and/or don't have a good routine. You can't just bring a new puppy or adult dog into your home & let them have free run of the place & expect them to not pee/poop somewhere weather it be accidental or not, they need to learn the house rules & that potty ONLY goes on outside unless you plan to peepad train then that's they ONLY indoor place you potty. Dogs/puppies are not dumb & they learn fast but they are like toddlers in that if you let them get away with it once then shame on you because they WILL try to push the limits, exactly like a toddler.

I need some help...My baby has/had a pinched nerve in her neck and has been on meds for a week. We have been feeding her baby food because she wasn't eating now...we are dealing with diarrhea for the past 3 days. Yes, I am giving her rice (she hates) any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to Yorkietalk. Congratulations on getting a new baby and kudos to you for trying to learn as much as you can. I have had Yorkies in my life for over thirty years, and when I first started college my mom had one. I am still learning every day. I love this site also, and I have my little girl because of two close friends who I met here.

This is a general tip thread which I like, but it's not specifically about puppies. I posted about putting plexiglass along the ballasts of my staircase, so my babies couldn't fall through when looking downstairs.
