Nancy .... I give Toto's heartworm medication on her birthdate, i.e., the 18th! I habitually forgot until I started doing this, now I always remember the 18th of every month!!
I do the same and never forget.

Also, like miezzi I use treats for Rosie's pictures.

I give heartworm meds on the 1st of every month. My mom always calls to remind me too so of course that helps.

That's a neat one.

I have one: Simple, but it works great for us. I tear a cotton ball in half and put one half in each of Mojo's ears before we give him a bath. This helps keep the water out, which makes Mojo more comfortable.

Also, to put clothes and shoes on, I do just like you would a baby. Lay him on his back on the bed and put the clothing/shoes on him - this way, it is easier to reach for the snaps/velcro/zippers etc....then trying to do it while holding him or w/ him just standing on the counter.

With treats, they are broken in half or cut into pieces. - If they are able to be. This way, the treats last longer and I don't have to worry about him getting an upset tummy from eating too much. - this works great for using the bigger treats as training treats! YUMMY!

That is what I do too! All four of ours get their heartworm on the 1st of each month - easier to remember that way. Then, they all get their tick drop the same day at the end of the month! So much easier that way. Those does are highlighted & marked on our calendar - have a big yearly desk planner posted on the side of our refrigerator.....makes it easy to keep track of everything.

That's how I used to do Toto's until .... I discovered Patrick's foam earplugs!!! They're the disposable kind that they have in the safety department and they use them at shooting ranges, etc. They are just perfect for Toto's tiny ears ... I cut one down the middle and have a pair! They are so easy to put in .... you just roll them between your thumb and forefinger until they're about the size of a wooden match stem and then immediately put it as far in the ear canal as it will go. It poofs back to normal size and won't come out until I pull it out. When she shakes her head they won't come out like the cotton did and it seems like her ears are drier. Our vet thinks that's one of the neatest ideas he has heard in a long time!

I also pre-treat her face! She is really bad about shoving her face into her food when she eats and she not only gets dried food on her mustache but around her little bottom lip. Sometimes I get busy and forget to clean her face when she eats and it dries. I take Q-Tips and either dip them in warm water or conditioner and soak those areas on her face as well as under eyes while I am brushing her for her bath. By the time I begin to bathe her the face yuckies are soft and easily shampoos out!

Great one. This is one of the things that freaks n=me out about sleeping with the dog or them sitting with me. I watch her poop one time and I could see where there remnants where still in the hair eeeeeewwwwwww she could not sit on me after that until her bath.

I always soften hard food with some warm water, put my furkids towel in the dryer before I bathe them or I mix hard food with a little rice if you have a picky eatter (they'll gobble it right up! )

What a great thread. I need a trick to get Max to stop running around when I want to put his leash on. He loves to run away and have me chase him, no matter what it is. Any good tricks?

My tip involves warming things in microwave. I always warm Joey's bath towel for about 30 seconds, and today little Joey was shivering, and I warmed up his blanky; instantly he stop shivering.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO WET SPOTS ON BLANKET OR TOWEL WHEN WARMING THEM AND ALWAYS TEST.

Do you have any tips that you would like to share?

Nancy
I have a stand alone portable heater right next to my shower. I put my towel there so as soon as I am done, grab it and they sure are toasty and warm next to my cold skin Now, I do the same with my furbabies when I give them baths. Their robes/towels are sitting on my heater getting toasty and ready to warm them up right after a good bath

another tip that I have started is putting simple solution to my washer (slot where you normal add bleach) whenever I do laundry. Ever since I have dogs I wanted to make sure there is NO smell or residue on any of our clothes so I think it is doing great for me . . .

also something we tried last night for the first time and LOVE!! layla has VERY dry skin and last night she had an oatmeal bath (i put oatmeal in a stocking and bathed her with it) and her skin is 99% better! im' sure if i do this every week it will just continue to improve! it's our new favorite thing!!
Oh I have about the same tip but slightly different. I give my furbabies one full mean a day now . . .seems they are starting to get too chunky When I do prepare their meal, it comes with wet merrick and mixture of EVO/dry merrick. I put some of this mixture inside their kong and freeze it. In the evening, they have it and because they are frozen, takes them a long time to finish it . . .still getting the same healthy, nutritious meal but in treat form and it sure quiets them down and preoccupied quite a bit while I am busy sewing I just love it so much I went and got another pair of kong for those days when I am running late in the mornings and don't have time to be stuffing

Oh Tiger is like Bailey, always wanting to chew on something - paper, clips, etc. I do the same, I get a treat and he will drop it in an instant and come to me. Well, we always play gofetch every lunchtime where I throw their balls and they go retrieve them and drop it right next to me so they can get a treat. Well, last night, I did that with tiger. Instead of him dropping the stuff and coming for his trade treat, I tell him "No, go get it" and so he did and brought it back to me for trade. I thought that was awesome so I will do so from here on
