| The cat food could cause problems. Cat food has a different nutrient balance than dog food. Among other things, it is higher in fiber. It tends to be higher in fat too.

| Cat food isn't good for dogs, dog food isn't good for cats! I used to give cat food kibble as a special treat to my German. You may want to check with your vet to be sure... |

| My cats are 13 and 14... Dogs 9 and 10. They eat each other's food all the time. Now max the new Yorkie loves to steal a cat kibble from their dish. The only vet visits we have in all those years (except to fix them and yearly shots )is one cat has UTI so on prescription dry food. Cat food is higher in protein/fat but a piece every now and then doesn't hurt. Wolfing down a bowl full instead of their food is hard on their kidneys per the vet we have. My moms dog does the wolfing down of cat food and his only problem is weight gain, again not heathy. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Compare the ingredients on the 2 bags of food - you'll see that the guaranteed analysis and nutritional analysis are a little different, but not extremely so. It's not ideal for them to consume a differently balanced diet, but it shouldn't do any real harm; the basics are still the same, really.

| I put my cat's food up high. I had a little stand that was about 4ft. The cat was able to jump up with no problem. I was lucky that my cat didn't like the dog food but Brandi loved cat food. |

| We keep the cat food up on our dryer to keep the dogs away. Now I've got the problem that the cats keep eating Jessie's food. It's a zoo around here. |
