Agreed how adorable Ela is! Re: hair being gray. My Bailey was mostly black with some beige and now, at 4.5 yo, he is mostly gray with still some beige. At 16 weeks he looked as if he was bald on his head because the hair was so light and very fine. No more baldness to be seen there now, just a whole lot of beige. Your baby seems to be making everyone/body (dogs) happy. My Bailey likes people, not dogs. It may be just in him that way but I feel that he is hesitant (goes Cujo' I call it) when protecting us from other canines as he was almost bit two times. Incidentally, both times were in a place where it is law to have dogs on a leash. I was told it was my fault, as I picked my dog up!! I replied nicely, that one bite from their dog (one was a standard poodle) could end my dog's life and I wasn't about to take the chance. They went on their way, still not on a leash.

She looks to be quite the beautiful all-Yorkie girl and a little peach, for sure. You've obviously taken wonderful care of her and that confident little face shows she is certain she is loved!!

I came across your post and wanted to ask what Ela looks like now. My 6 month old Yorkie looks exactly like Ela when she was 6 months old and I, too wondered if he was a pure Yorkie even though he has AKC papers. I googled his description; textured hair, deep black and rusty red coloring, long pointed muzzle. The red legged and wire hair Yorkshire Terrier came up and stated this description matched the original Yorkie in England. These dogs have little hair on the head and grow a shorter coat. They maintain the deep coloring and do not change. I found this very interesting and thought seeing Ela now at over a year old would perhaps confirm that Ela and my dog, Basil are a throw back to the original Yorkie. janicecue

| Hey Janicecue, Sure, this is Ela now, she's 9 months old, she's a big girl 9.8 pounds. Her hair in the head grows we trim it every now and then, but her hair in the body grows very slowly.

Love how Ela has kept her deep colors. She is a doll baby. Hopefully, Basil will do the same!

Are my puppies really Yorkies? Love these two babies so much. Like Ela, we are looking forward to seeing how they look as they grow. Anise and Basil are 5 months old in this picture. They both do not look at all like our 8 yr old Ginger or like a standard Yorkie and their hair is textured and slow growing. The Dad was 4lb and Mom 8lb and looked like the standard Yorkie. They have stolen our hearts and Ginger adopted them as her own babies.
