| Spay tomorrow I've been crying about it, and the vet was gracious enough to not be upset with me when I was open about my relief hearing her experience. One of them \she's operated on was a health fragile puppy mill yorkie that was only 2 pounds. I am guilty that I'm taking out her girly parts and making her in pain and she has no idea. I had sterilization along with my c/s and it didn't feel good at all.. actually hurt a lot worse than the c/s did. I know to have a pain management plan. She's been in such a great mood, squealing, talking both back and at us... and she's getting cut open and comes home in immense pain. I know that it needs to be done, but I can't help how I feel. On a positive note, her liver numbers are spectacular. Only slightly elevated... Apl's? I'm sure I've got that wrong, but the "bad" ones were completely clear. I was told that it can be normal for them to be elevated. Please pray for her. I understand a lot of you have been through this. My dogs were males, and one female that was spayed before coming home by my breeder aunt. This is all very new. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yep, a lot of us have been through this...but this is YOUR baby and now you're going through it and you're scared - so normal! We love these little ones so very much, so it's very scary to put them under and/or take any purposeful risk with them whatsoever. I totally get it. Been there! But try to think positive and visualize the positive outcome for her, and remind yourself that you have a skilled, competent, confident vet who will truly look out for her. It's awesome that her bloodwork is looking SO good too - that should reassure you some. Keep us posted on the wee one - I'll keep her close in my thoughts today !

| I've been with my vet for over twenty years and trust her completely and without hesitation. But until I got the much-awaited phone call that Piper was in recovery and doing well (after being spayed), pretty much all I could do during those few hours was pace and pray. I kinda know how you're feeling Just remember, you're doing what is best for your little girl; remember, she'll bounce back--probably way too quickly for your comfort; and remember you love her and she loves you--always and unconditionally! |

| Chewie is here at home. In her onesie. The day started off hectic, and we were late so hubby drove her over. He did all of my instructions. She's not out of it, and she's not energetic. She tried SO hard to do our car routine where she goes off of my lap onto hubby's but of course she couldn't and we wouldn't. She was quiet until she saw me and let out a deep gut wrenching whimper. That was hard to hear, but I understand it's a sign of her trust which I'm very happy she'll show me, at least discomfort. I wanted to chain myself to her, but, I'm afraid of jostling her around too much. I put her on our bed on the body pillow under the fan. She's laying there right now. I know she wants both of us by her at all times but it's not feasible of me to be in the bedroom all day. She's on.. med is downstairs. Oxi or osti something. The assistant was trying to dissuade my questions of optional pain relief just in case brushing me off and saying it was an anti-inflammatory but I got her to finally tell me to call them tonight if there's an issue and they'll give me a second option. I'm back downstairs to check on her. I do have a tramadol script as well we never filled- wanted to add. |

| Cherie will be feeling much better tomorrow. It will take a little time for the anesthesia to leave her system. I'd continue with the pain medication for a couple more days to be sure Chewie is not in pain. Her body will heal better if she's not in pain. Through the years I hated the idea of spaying each of my little girls, so I can relate to all of your concerns. I knew in the long run they would be happier not having to be restricted from walks during the time they were in heat. The risk of pyrometers and mammary tumors were also lessened, so know you did the right thing for your little girl. I'm thrilled to hear Chewie's liver values are much better.
