| Georgia- 200 Yorkies Need Homes More than 200 yorkies need homes after breeder dies I don't know if this is true, it seemed odd they had an adoption event and only adopted out 3 yorkies but if you're in that area and are looking for a yorkie, opportunity may be knocking. Be careful though this came off of the internet! Adopt-A-Pet |

| I'll give them a call tomorrow, see if I can get some more info.... I thought someone closer to Georgia would take on the task, I'm 3000+ miles away.... 200 yorkies! I figured someone would be all over that gathering info to share to the rest of us here at YORKIE talk. |

| Here's the written story: COLUMBUS Ga.- A local animal shelter is taking on the challenge of finding new homes for dozens of dogs, after their owner passed away. Claws and Paws and Petco held an adoption event on Saturday. An Atlanta breeder has recently passed away leaving 200 yorkies without homes. 11 yorkies were up for adoption Saturday in Columbus. Petco teamed up with local animal shelter Claws and Paws as a way to support their effort to give the dogs new homes. Petco donated $35 to the shelter for each dog that was adopted. Claws and paws is a no kill shelter, which makes it crucial for them to move animals in and out of their care. The shelter runs completely off of donations, so they encourage everyone to adopt if they can, but if not, they have a temporary fostering program. So far three yorkies have been adopted. Petco will host a similar adoption event on September 10th. For more information on how you can help a furry friend in need, click here. |

| I oughta let the pros answer that but, that's gotta be a mill. I'll try to remember to ask some of those more difficult questions when I call them tomorrow. Great question! Was it a puppy mill and who did they provide puppies to? Atlanta GA. |

| I would love to hear the info that you find out. I was considering driving there. I went to the adoption agency's web site and found five or so puppies listed, but it doesn't mention all the others. Are they all at the same place?

| I saw this on facebook what a shame. If I was closer I would adopt or foster one. Will they consider out of state adoptions like some organizations do?

| I called the 2 ph numbers, one was busy, the other had no option to leave voice mail. I sent a text and an email requesting more info. I grabbed this off of one of the yorkie talks on FB, I don't recall which one. |

| My goodness. 200 is a lot of Yorkies! Wow. It's so horrible. I hope the Yorkies find good, decent, appropriate homes. They need so much work and care... Praying for the best!

| Has anyone heard anything else on this? My MIL is willing to drive there to adopt one, she is in FL. Called and left a message today on one number, the other number a man answered and said his home phone had been incorrectly posted on line, so now he's getting a bunch of calls. :-(
