| I see. We'll see what we can do. We haven't slept much the last couple of days watching her. Contemplating using a soft cone just to sleep. Deprivation of sleep after a while is not healthy. Will see tonight.... |

| Mia was doing beautifully yesterday afternoon and all through the night. Vet prescribed Remadyl for pain after spaying . Early this morning at 5 was her second dose. I know it makes her groggy tired it happened the first day. However today she continues not being as active as yesterday, BUT what is concerning me the most is she is not eating. I gave her all the choices as yesterday. boiled chicken, boiled ground turkey, baby food, rice, sweet potato I have tried all day. She just nibbles on a little piece of cheese that I've given her out of desperation. She did play a while ago so she is not lethargic but she hasn't had a bowel movement since the day of surgery Thursday. She didn't go yesterday and today bc she's not eating she hasn't either. I'm afraid Remadyl has affected her appetite ? I don't know what to think she was doing so well. Vet prescribed 25mg cut in half once dayly. That's what I've done. Yesterday she ate much better and had more energy untill late night early morning hours before med. Please let me know if this has happened to any of your babies with Remadyl or simply after spaying. |

| I am glad to hear the surgery went well but I am sorry she is having a hard time recovering. I honestly don't think it is a good idea to give her the pain medicine now. The pain medicine can effect her appetite. How often are you giving her the Nutri-cal? Have you tried scrambled eggs? Is she drinking plenty of water? Hopefully she will start eating better soon.

| Actually, she refuses to take the nutri cal. I bought it at petsmart bc of the rush to have it before surgery. No scrabbled eggs I haven't tried. Everything else under the sun! She is a poor eater to begin with. I was giving her the Remadyl once a day, only given her two doses. I'm definitely will not give her the third one. I'm glad you mentioned it decreases their apettite . You are so knowledgeable and calm at the same time that you're God sent. I was already thinking the worst possible scenario. Thanks a million. I hope she starts recuperating soon!! |

| You need to make her take the Nutrical. Put some on your finger and just put it in her mouth. If you rub it on the roof of her mouth she will take it. She needs nutrition. When dogs are sick and get low blood sugar they loose their appetite. I recommend giving it to her several times a day until she is eating good. Also wait about 5 minutes after you give her the Nutrical then offer her some food. The best thing is boiled chicken mixed with a little rice or if she is used to eat dry food just soak the dry food in warm water then add some of the boiled chicken to that. You may need to hand feed her for awhile until she gets to feeling better. She will love the extra attention. I also suggest you mix a little corn syrup in water and give that to her with a syringe. You can also give her some pedialyte.

| When I wanted to force water into Minnie, I'd put chicken broth in it. It was something I had to do because her kidneys were in horrible shape. But it worked like a charm, she drank a lot of water. I hope Mia is doing better now. It could be the painkillers. The wound doesn't look infected or anything, does it?

| I will definitely try everything you both have said. She finally ate something last night and had bowel movement. She slept all night totally the opposite of night before where all she did was played. Got up this am in good spirit. Her incision looks good! The Nutrical I was Afraid of forcing it on her bc of fear of her vomiting But I will try the way you said. See she also had some extractions that's why I didn't want to bother her mouth too much. No pain med this am hopefully by now she feels more comfortable. |

| Yes it is great news to her doing better! I spoon fed her the scrambled egg with some ground turkey little rice and bit of pumkin. She ate some of it. No water yet though. What happens she already had the issue of not drinking that much and not eating that much. Only when she's really active she drinks and eats better. So might still need that chicken broth after all. |

| Yes they did a complete blood work prior to surgery everthing was fine. The only thing elevated was one of the pancreatic enzymes. The vet said she wasn't co corned that a lot of things could affect that but that the other enzyme was normal and she had no symptoms of pancreatitis . |
