Honestly, I'm not sure a second opinion two weeks ago would have changed this. Maybe you could've broken the cough temporarily but there's no cure. Xrays don't always diagnose the CT because it's a dynamic condition. So maybe your vet wasn't misdiagnosing him as much as she didn't see evidence on an X-ray and in a very young dog she wasn't highly suspicious. They aren't God. But I wouldn't be going back... I know I couldn't. She didn't have it right, and that would bother me. I would let her know this because anytime a yorkie is coughing with a tracheal sound it should be within the diagnostic rule outs. You're not alone though, my last stupid vet gave me Claritin for Barney for his cough and said it was allergies. I already knew he had CT and was fuming.

Try to be at peace with all of this. Your boy is running free and you're not to blame at all!

OMG////what a mess...I have never heard of that, so in a way thanks for the education...Im so sorry, they could not help your little boy...I had something similar happen with my little girl having seizures...Long story...so I wont bother you at this time with it...but I too had to let her go, so I feel your pain sweetie....its so sad.....(((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))

Thank you again for your kind words. The reassurance has been needed. I know that his case was severe and only being 3 years old was mostly genetic. It progressed so quickly. He was fine one day and gone 2 weeks later. Crazy to comprehend. I hope to contact the "reputable breeder" I got him from and let her know.

I can well imagine that you are still in shock! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. CT is such a terrible terrible disease. The first yorkie we ever lost was from that and it is such a terrifying thing for both the little one and their family to have to go through. Rest in Peace sweet baby.

i am very sorry about your boy, he was so adorable, it must be so hard for you right now...my baby is only 10 months and she has been having issues with her bronchi is what the doc is saying she has been on antibiotics 2 times and this time she is on temaril p she is doing so much better...they just did Xrays on her...but I did not know that xrays could not see if they have a CT??? How did the other Vet manage to see it?? I am so afraid of my baby having this issue...the Vet said he trachea looks clear....i have been crying two night in a row just worried about her...she is better now her cough has stopped. Once again I am sorry about your baby and I will have to seek a second opinion if my baby does not improve....
