| Hi guys. I just registered on this forum, i m the owner of my first yorkie girl. i have started to read this forum since i ve got her and i have found it very usefull. So, my girl is 1 year 4 months, and since i bought her she alaways had a sensitive stomac . She weight only 1,900 kg. She is having a sick stomac episode every 5-6weeks. First thing, her stomac starting to growling.then i can see she doesn t feel very well cause she refuse to eat and she not to active. After that i start to give her ProKalin which is a probiotic. she will throw up once ot twice that day and have some.diarea too. Then she will eat first meal very late in the night when she is starting to feel better(because of probiotic) and after she eats everythung will be fine again. Sometimes this episode last 1 day but from time to time it last a bit more...like 2 days. All this time she will also have some very smelling gases! Except of those sick days, she is constantly having acid reflux and her mounth is smelling bad . I was with her to the vet and i explain about her acid reflux and bad smell and he gave me Ranitidine pills for 7 days. I alredy gave her pills in the last 5 days, but no sign of improving. The doctor told me that bad breath comes from her stomac. And now she is unwell again I m feeding her grains(Lily's kitchen) 30% and cooked food 70%. She is extreamly finichy she won t eat the same food more then twice and she doesn t eat her grains untill very late in the night when she is too hungry... I need to boil or grill for her chicken liver, turkey, beef, vegetable, etc. She doesnt like treats either. She doesnt like any food or treats from the store no matter how expensive it is. There is anyone here in my situation?i don t know Wlwhat i m doing wrong? what to do with her tummy?Im planning to return to the vet...what tests should i ask him to do to her because he wanted to do only bloode tests! Thank you! |

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I think I'd be asking for her to be scoped at this point...? It's clear that something is definitely not right here. I would also try Pepcid and/or Metronizadole and/or Tylosin. Has IBD / IBS been discussed?

Would the doctor be able to tell.me if she need to be put on diet? I m going to have a hard time feeding her a died with limited ootions. She doesnt like anything! ( |

| It could be that she's simply having an allergy to something in her food. |

| Stress and Diet are a problem with diarrhea. Yes, your Yorkie stomach is too acidity. You will probably need to find some kind of Alkaline source to push it's stomach PH balance back. This mean using Calcium. Go get some TUMS and crush it up. Use about 20mg and sprinkle it to his meal. I would blend the meal in a blender with some warm water too. It's easier on her stomach too. DON'T FEED HER COOK FOOD! It'll just make it worst. |

| I was feeding my boy wellness core grain free for small breeds and he was having episodes of stomach upset. He was getting a 1/4 cup twice a day (he's 6lbs) and waking up with episodes of vomitting bile early in the morning. Also after he ate he would walk around hunched over and clearly in severe pain. I took him to the vet and she suggested an over the counter acid controller. Famotidine tablets 10mg and I gave him a 1/4 tablet a day. It helped tremendously but I also stopped the food I was giving him. Since switching to natural balance limited ingredient duck formula I have not had any issues and even stopped the anti acid pills. I also mix in a little chicken and either some cooked potato, sweet potato or quinoa bc I find the extra carbs help hold him over better until his next meal. I would never have thought that a good quality dog food could be the cause of any issues... It takes some time to find the food that works best. Good luck. |
