Go with your gut, I find my never leads me wrong ~ you're a good soul and that pup crossed your path for a reason.
I had a Yorkie that went deaf at 11, it changed nothing for her, she lived to 17 and was like a pup until her last week. They really adapt well as long as they have a patient and caring spirit looking over them....like you. The pup might even have partial lose from the ear infection.

And I think Milo will make a great big brother. Look how dashing he is! I look forward to updates on this!

If she is deaf, pups can learn hand signals for commands just as well as people can. She can still be trained, you just would have to make sure she is looking at you, same as with a deaf person.

Not all vets do the tattoo. Mario was neutered May 2015 and he is tattooless. If you believe it is a good idea, maybe you could ask the vet prior to the surgery to do the tattoo. Then if they do not by normal practice, it is something they can look into and may change their normal practice

I'm just thrilled beyond for both of you! Just stay on those people at the shelter so they don't accidently "forget" about you...I get that it's a very busy place with many helpful and well-meaning people and you want to make sure you don't get lost in the shuffel, yes? Again, I'm so happy for all of you and I'm sure with your love and dedication all will get along famously and happily!!!

Ditto on the hand signals. It is very easy to train a dog on hand signals. You can do the voice command also, so that he may be familiar with your mouth movements, like reading lips! All animals in tv and film are trained with hand signals. Obv the trainers cannot use voice commands while filming. I don't see the deafness as a major setback and if it were me, would take him in a heartbeat!

Going to stop by the shelter today to drop off some stuff for her and the other animals today, and see when and if I can arrange a play date for her and Milo. I think it is important for the two of them to get to know each other outside of the house.

The deafness does not scare me at all, Milo was taught both voice and hand signals I use the hand more than my voice with him anyway. There was concerns there might be other neurological issues that is what worries me. Milo has issues of his own, and I am not financially capable of caring for two dogs with special medical needs it would not be fair to either one of them. I know all dogs have minor issues, I can handle those. I want her really bad but I also know her needs come before my wants.

Send good thoughts our way please that it is just her hearing loss and Milo and her become the best of friends

I agree on the hand signals. Mine can follow commands with hand signals and no voice better than voice and no signals (when they feel like it!). You could probably teach her to look at you if you catch her attention with a light of some sort.

I wanted to add that if you don't feel like you can take her, little dogs who are that cute get adopted easily. So she'll have a forever home either way.

She is so cute! Such a little doll face! I hope everything works out well and you are able to bring her home! Think about health insurance for her, that could ease some of your worries

I have made sue the shelter understands all my concerns, as we have discussed for now she is mine, and if for some reason I am unable to take her there is a line of people behind me. I am moving forward as is if I am taking her though. We have a play date set up for Wednesday, defiantly me, we have to see if the Vet says the parasites have cleared up before we know if I can bring Milo with me. I will take pictures then.

OMG, what a cute little baby. Hard to resist that sweet face. Hope the the visit with Milo is a success and that the health issues you were concerned about are minor. But as others say, that cutie will not be in the shelter long
