| Any suggestion or help on getting my 10 month old to stop going after my male 12 year old dog? She's more dominate and they get along fine most of the time but every once and awhile she decides to really go after him. This last time I was across the room and it took me a minute to get to them and separate them. He ended up pulling a muscle and is now on pain and muscle relaxers. She's really sweet normally and I'm unsure what starts the altercation. She just seems to go for him for no reason. My daughters female poodle mix comes over frequently and she's fine with her, but Layla, my daughters dog, has always ruled here. (I call her the Queen Bee). Layla and my male have always gotten along great. Not sure how to address it and don't won't him hurt again. Was hoping she'd outgrow it. |

| I had a very similar issue....it got so bad I had to resort to drastic measures, or that young hottie was going to KILL my senior....I bought a shock collar for my female that insisted on "attacking with intent to kill" another senior, toothless female......it took about two days, with 4 attacks on the first day, and 2 attacks on the second day....and it has never happened again. That corrective event was over a year ago.....the younger instigator gives the old toothless lady a very wide birth, to this day!....I bought a wide (1 inch) red collar that the senior wears...it is nothing but a simple red collar....but it LOOKS suspiciously exactly like the shock collar that I had used on the younger female to train her not to attack the old lady....I think that younger female thinks that collar is what delivered a shock to her when she attacked the old woman, and she gives her a wide birth from then on! (But I never leave them alone together, unsupervised....my senior goes into my bedroom when I leave the house.) |

| Good idea. It may come to that. It's not fair for him to be terrorized in his golden years. I never would have thought I'd have a male female issue. Where did you get your collar and what brand. I've seen them for bigger dogs at petsmart but not for small ones. She is upper 5 pounds. I too never leave them alone together. She gets put in an x-pen if I leave. |

Call, chat or email with our expert PetSafe US-based customer care specialists six days a week; They are waiting to assist you and your pet with your product needs PetSafe brand has been an industry leading US manufacturer of pet behavior, containment and lifestyle products since 1991, helping millions of people and pets each year. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have used the second collar.....if you own two or more dogs, and you have one that will savage or kill another one in your home, and the issue can be corrected, you should do what is necessary to protect the disadvantaged pup....you can not waste time or jeopardize the weaker pups life, while you pitz around trying to eliminate the issue with personality training measures....you have a dog that is completely dependent on you to protect it. Either do so, or get rid of one of the dogs that is causing the issue. You MUST STOP the savage attack...it only escalates....stop the attacks immediately with this method, THEN spend money and time and efforts with alternate training behavior, etc. Any of you that have ever had a dog brutally attack another of your pets, understand the savage intent....it will end in the serious injury of the weaker one, and once the dominate dog realizes he is in charge, the attack will continue and will probably end in the death of your weaker dog. As a responsible pet owner/parent, you must NOT allow this to occur. You must stop the behavior or re-home one of the dogs. To ME, the second option does not change the behavior....and that attack dog behavior will eventually result in an unpleasant circumstance for that dog. STOP the attack behavior immediately for the safety of all dogs involved, THEN try to re-train behavior, which takes a lot longer than a bark collar, and subjects the subordinate dog to a continued real and immediate danger! |
