Thanks for the kind words and your life will never be the same! This is our first Yorkie and OMG - whenever he walks into the room - all I can think of "let the games begin" and "please be gentle with us today!"

Well, it (First Alert Bark Genie Handheld Bark Control) works great when Charlie isn't barking (he absolutely hears it - stops whatever he is doing) but when he is barking/screaming - he simply doesn't hear it! I can hold it right next to him when he is barking/screaming and nothing - as a matter of fact - he gets even louder! The wife now pushes him back into the carrier and closes it up saying QUIET - seems if he can't see he doesn't bark. UNFORTUNATELY - while closing up the carrier "blinded" him and he would stop barking - he has now mastered the car turn motion and barks/screams in the carrier! If we didn't love him so much...

I believe there are some very stylish earmuffs these days...Granted, you may get a second look or two from fellow Floridian drivers, but at least you'll be spared hearing their uproarious laughter. I shall continue to ponder your predicament with charming, relentless Charlie---he is such a cute, cute, cute little dickens---I can never stay mad at him!!

I bought the first alert. Bark Genie.......... .. does NOT work on Buddybear. He gets v e r y
Agressive when he sees me pointing it at him. He doesn't pay any attention to it if he can't see it......but fire trucks and police sirens don't faze him either. When you find something that works I Want to Know. I bought Buddybear the thunder shirt for car trips and he is just as noisy as ever.

I have just now caught back up to this post and OMG I have had several LOL moments reading it and watching the videos! Charlie is large and in charge in his mind

honestly I have enjoyed reading about Charlie, BuddyBear and Piper, I take comfort in knowing that I am not alone in being OWNED by these little Yorkies! It reminds me of a post a few weeks ago about YMC "Yorkie Mind Control" it was hilarious and very accurate! You gotta love them, their personalities are off the charts, they work very hard to keep us in line

I do too, they are so dang cute and loving. They have some serious power - one minute you are ready to pull your hair out and the next they have you mesmerized, lol it's crazy but a good crazy! I am proud to say I have been owned by two of these little babes, my Jig has gone to Rainbows Bridge and I miss him terribly...My Presley has taken the mantle on & is doing a beautiful job just like Jingle did with the YMC lol!

I notice that Charlie is now 9 or 10 months old. Could it be that the carrier that you are using is getting more confining for him? He is freaking out for some reason and I can't imagine it being good for him. Is the carrier recommended for the size of a dog Charlie is now and will be in the next 4 months? They usually continue to put on weight until they are 12 to 14 months of age.

Plenty of room - as a matter of fact - I have tried both the carrier (unzip'd and he sits up in it so he can see the world) and the a American Kennel Club Pet Booster Seat (Up To 20 lbs) with the same results. Thanks for the suggestion.

Now, the latest is today we decided to pet him when we came close to a turn - about a mile out I would start reaching over and petting him - DANG! He didn't scream at all! Well, actually, he stopped the screaming when making turns as long as I was petting him BUT when I pulled into 7-11 for a cup of coffee - he was quiet on the turn into the parking lot BUT when I shut off the car - he scared the CRAP OUT OF ME! I posted a new puppy introduction in Yorkie Pics, I hope I did it right lol. I just have to say that I am so thankful that I found this website! I obsessively read threads prior to bringing our girl home and got so many great tips! So far our baby is eating great, and adjusting very well. She is obsessed with my husband which is good, maybe she can soften him up a bit!

We had one minor set back, while in her x-pen last night she peed in her bed and started to cry and woke us up. We gave her a bath and washed her bedding at 2am lol. I think it was because the blanket she had in bed with her was rubbed on mama to get her scent so it was the only familiar smell to her. I took all of the advise I read on here and she is now using her puppy pad. YAY!! I am so proud of her. Here's a sneak peak, but I'm hoping my thread shows up after it gets approved.
