| Update - Charlie now screams before we even get out of the garage! We only take him with us when we have to - otherwise, we leave the front door open (just a little) and he positions himself between the door and the locked storm door so he can watch life pass by. We have a procedure now. 1. He watches are put on our shoes and places his nose against the door - he wants to go. 2. I get a treat and he backs up when we get to the door. 3. I throw a treat a few feet away. 4. He runs for the treat. 5. The wife and I run out and close the door. 6. At that moment I wonder why two senior citizen's are running and hiding from a 3lb 7oz dog! 7. Charlie starts barking. 8. We pull out of the garage and stop to see if he is at the front door. 9. Yuppa - he is at the front door wondering why we are leaving him home. 10. I check every 20 minutes or so on my home cam and he is sitting at the front door looking for us and barks every few minutes or so. 11. We get home and stop at the door - he is watching. 12. Hit the garage door opener and he bolts from the front door to the garage door. 13. Greets us when we walk in. So, two senior citizen's being pushed around by a tiny dog! UNREAL! Onto his teeth - 16 pulled and everything healed up nicely. We are living the dream!

| Where ever have you been? Your absence was noted. Very glad for the update on your little dictator--sounds as though things are going pretty much exactly as Charlie planned. In my case, when breaking Piper from 'demand' barking (incessant and sharp), a wise YT member suggested I go to another room, leaving Piper out. I must say, this has proven to be an effective deterrent, as my girl hates being ignored. However, many is the time, while standing quietly alone in my tiny bathroom, door closed, I think training is tough, but necessary....And yet, how is it that Piper, when I do resort to the tough training (i.e. ok, fine, you wanna bark? I'm leaving), how is it that during training, how is it that Piper has the run of the house, access to comfy couch, access to my (well, ok, our---fine, fine, her bed which I'm allowed on) her bed w/pillows, and she has the tv, which matters not at all to her, whereas there I stand, straining to hear To Kill A Mockingbird from wrong side of bathroom door. You two dashing from Charlie, me stuck in bathroom. Yep, sounds about right. God is in His Heaven and all is right with the world. Hey, SWowner, it really is so good to hear from you and very reassuring that I'm not alone in all this...! Big smooch for that Charlie!!! (below is Piper doing her, 'What? I'm just little and far too cute to 'plot'" look. I think Charlie and Piper practice & compare cuteness expressions in order to maximize their effectiveness... |

| I second that - it's good to hear from you SWOwner! For a while I too missed your posts Glad to hear Charlie is recovering well from his teeth removal surgery and that you're managed to establish a process in leaving him at home! I thought of something you might wanna try as part of your 'great escape'... Not sure if Charlie does a good stay, but I usually have Scottie stay on his bed while I load up some of his treats in his treat dispenser and put it in a visible spot that's far from him. Then, when I'm at the door, I tell him to go get it and he dashes for the treat dispenser while I close and lock up the door. It really helps redirect his focus away from the fact that I'm leaving to gotta get all these yummy treats out nowww! | Gosh - I can now imagine thousands of Yorkie owners "sneaking" out of the house so their itty bitty yorkies don't get upset! I may have to start a poll and see what it shows. Thanks for the suggestion canana - might give it a try.

| Oh for heavens sake! Just how much more adorable is this ever-so-innocent looking little Charlie gonna get?! I am completely enamored of your little guy! Really, can you imagine the antics of our two together--and can you imagine one of us trying to leave after they met? I'm pretty certain one of our households would have to relocate--we think we've got stuff to deal with now....Annie-bar-the-doors, we'd be in for it for sure!!!! |

| Thank you all for the kind words. Ole Charlie is really a pain in the butt these days. He loves being chased around the house. It isn't uncommon for me to be sleeping and wake up to him standing on my chest with his face smack up against mine! Yes, it scares the crap out of you but then he jumps back and stomps his feet saying "catch me if you can ?itch!). The wife wasn't feeling real good for a few weeks and Charlie stayed right by her the entire time - what an amazing pet. Anyway - hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Weekend - the kids will be visiting later today so Charlie should be good and tired by tonight...

| Well - we gave the "Thundershirt Dog Jacket for Anxiety" a shot. Noppa - Charlie still goes nuts when we make turns and pull into shopping centers. So - we are still leaving him at home. Lately when we leave him at home - he curls up at the door, stops his barking and just lets the sun bath him while waiting for us to return (got to love our Charlie CAM!).

| It figures that not even a thunder-shirt can quiet the force-of-nature that is little Charlie; he's still a caution, that boy is...! Is that really him being still in the sun? Because that, too, is rather amazing!! Just love that little Charlie!! |

| Bless his little heart......Charlie like Buddybear needs a playmate! Now we just have to convince our other half. Seriously though the Thunder Shirt did not work on Buddybear either. We're trying lavender oil on his ears, I hate the smell but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to try for peace and quiet in the car. BTW, when I had bronchitis Buddybear stayed sleeping near my chest at night even with my cpap mask on which he HATES. During the day he was never far away either. When DH was ill before I even knew it he was stuck to him like glue. I was starting to feel like the redheaded stepchild.......poor me, then DH said he was going to the ER. Talk about no communication. Keep us updated on ol' Charlie. I am still in hopes Buddybear and Charlie will out grow this travel thing but I won't hold my breath. Happy 4th of July.

| Thought I would check in. Lets see... Charlie just loves to be chased these days. He brings over his "baby" and starts to bark until I stand up and then he grabs his "baby" and runs down the hall. This goes on for a few minutes until I am ready to pass out and then he gets up on the couch and rests! Oh yea - he just loves to have his butt rub'd - go figure! Hope all is going well with the gang. Later!
