YT 500 Club Member | Adult food My yorkie will be 11months old Dec. 14th. When should I slowly start changing over to adult food. I plan to keep the same brand as his puppy food. Thanks 🍖🍗

| Now is fine but in future dogs you can start early like 3-4 months start transitioning introduce little bits at a time don't fully change it on them though

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yorkies are considered mostly adults by 6mths old so you can switch over any time...

| I always wait until they are almost a year old before transitioning, because the growth plates are not matured until the pup is around 8-12 months old. My dog food recommends leaving them on puppy food to provide adequate nutritional intake for those bones and organs, until I think it says 8 months on the bag, but I have always left mine and recommended new owners, until they are a year old...easier to remember, and it certainly wont hurt them! |
