| Frozen Raw Food - Primal hi guys, i'm just wondering when giving frozen raw food.. like primal, do you serve it to the puppies cold, or after warming it up a bit? i know warming it may cook the food a bit and its a bad idea but i'm not sure if you are supposed to just serve it cold either o.o thank you in advance. |

| I would think at least at room temperature. Eating frozen might bring their body temperature down but I'm not the expert. Buddybear doesn't like cold food unless it's ice cream.

| Mine eat nothing but Primal. They prefer it cold from the refrigerator but I have one that will gladly eat it frozen. Its like crack for dogs. He loves that stuff! Diana |

| Deviruchi, Some dogs tolerate dairy and some don't. I don't feed mine ice cream, but they do get the occasional bit of cheese if I need something to wrap a pill in. I have one with irritable bowel and he needs to stay on a strict, novel protein diet. I feed the frozen lamb patties. They also get an egg about twice weekly. They also get about an ounce of Primal goat's milk every other day. For treats they get little pieces of the dry dehydrated Primal lamb. Primal is a complete diet so you don't need to add anything else to it. Maybe hold back on the apples and other things and let their bellies adjust to the raw diet before adding anything else. You have chosen an excellent food for your pup. Diana |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I feed mine from the fridge...thawed, but cold. I wouldn't recommend you micro them bc you'll kill some of the enzymes in the meat, which are beneficial. But that doesn't mean you can't micro them if you really want to. I feed mostly duck Primal, but also chicken, beef, turkey/sardine.

| @scoobstersmom i gave bit of cheese to for nami to take her pain pill for her knee surgery, but i just started to use boiled sweet potato to replace the cheese now. the egg... i saw on the website that they can get it 2x a week for amino acid, is it safe? im really hoping this food will work out for them.. @wylie's mom, oh i never thought of microwaving the food. my bf was saying that puppies will get tired of eating cold food every day and i should just let it warm up in the hot water, but even the primal website says not to... lol, since, as you said, it'll kill some of the enzymes. which one does your puppies like more? the store i go to only had ones you've listed, but they said they'll bring all lines from primal soon i want to let them try out the rabbit/lamb/pheasant when it comes here |

| Deviruchi, in thirty years of owning yorkies I've always fed them egg a couple of times per week, and never had a problem. The yolk is a little high in fat, so I usually stir up three whites, two yolks and a bit of cold water and scramble it up for them, then divide between the three dogs for breakfast maybe twice weekly. Sweet potato is also fine. Mine rarely get cheese, but I don't mind if they have a tiny piece once in a while. Now that they're on Primal, I usually just stuff any pill inside a bite of their dog food. My one yorkie that's on meds inhales his food like it's crack, so he doesn't even notice the pill. Diana |
