| Puppy is emptying the water dish Hello, My new puppy has found a fun thing to do. She is digging in the water dish and emptying the water out. She and the other two pups get soaked along with my floor. I have tried using different bowls, multiple bowls and tonight I went to the pet store and found one of those no spill water dishes with the cover and a hole in the middle hoping this would deter her but an hour later the floor was soaked, the puppies were soaked and there was no water to drink. I am concerned because we work and although my husband comes home at lunch to check on them, there is about 4 hours that they are alone and I don't want them to have no water for that long. I just don't know what to do. The other two pups were so well behaved and this number 3 puppy is so naughty. Any ideas of how I can take care of this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Anne |

| This has also been an issue occasionally with my group! They have a ball playing in the water bowl! I use a drip waterer, like what hamsters drink from....you hang the bottle on the OUTSIDE of the crate, and they drink from the metal nozzle that runs into the crate, by licking the end of the tubing....when they are out in the den, water bowl is placed on a pee pad so they dont get water all over the den, and they play until they grow tired and move on to something else! |

YT 1000 Club Member | I had to put water in a ceramic casserole dish, like a small one. It is very difficult for my puppies to tip. Mine like to pick up their bowls and carry them around, which meant they were spilling the water all the time. They can not pick this one up so they don't spill it. I don't know if that would help with the digging. You want something that is heavy and with a flat bottom and shallow sides so it is hard for them to tip. Hopefully they will grow out of this soon! LOL

| Presley does this very thing, it looks like he is trying to dig to China when he is in his water bowl! The floor gets soaked and so does he, lol! He has a kiddie pool and loves it, he also loves playing in the bathtub...I have no advice on what to do, the water bottles sound like a great idea. As naughty as it is, I can't help but laugh when he does it, he has me wrapped

| Teddy did this when he was a puppy and, yes, it became a tiresome game very quickly - for me, anyway! We used a water bottle like this for about six months: Amazon This really worked cuz he liked drinking from it, it kept his area dry when we were away and because he could no longer tip water, it broke his habit. Would recommend you try it if you have somewhere to securely attach it. |
