Belly Bands? Hey everyone! I recently got a new addition to the family. Teddy is just under 2 years old. The folks I got him from said he is pad trained and goes outside too. However, I don't think he's pad trained at all. The problem is that I am at work from 7:30 until 5:00 most days. I would love to not have to confine him all day long but he will pee and poop if I don't. So my question is.... can I put a belly band on him during the day? He doesn't have any accidents at night so I could take it off and let everything "breathe"... lol.

I put belly bands on my boys.....except when I have them outside, they wear them whenever inside the house of I would have pee all over everything, from them "marking" their territory! You have a couple of things to get right....'First, you want to get a pad thick enough to catch the pee for the length of time you will be away from the house..... Second, you want to be sure you keep him clean down there....wash the area under those pads with soap and warm water and dry well, between pad changes or in your case, when you get home in the evening and remove the pad. In your case, when you get home and remove the pad for good, just wash his area very well, dry well, and let him "air out"! I have done this on my breeding males for 12+ years and never had any problem, and mine wear their pads the entire time they are inside the house!

That's great! I have another Yorkie that's 6 1/2 years old. I've had him since he was 4 months old and he is totally pad trained so this is all new to me. What kind of belly bands do you have? I don't want to spend a ton on them but I definitely want them to work.

My friend in Odessa made them for me....she no longer makes dog stuff, so I really do need to get a bunch of new ones....they are sooooo easy to make and some places charge too much for me to get enough to clothe all these boys! I am still looking for good pricing on them.....these I have are 12 years old and have lasted wonderfully, but getting to where the velcro does not hold well anymore. I need like 25 of them and I can not spend a ton of money one each one.....they are actually very easy to make and if I had the time, I could whip out a bunch of my own.......so I am still looking.

Belly bands are a God send!! I keep them on Presley when I cannot watch him like a hawk! He KNOWS not to pee in the house but if he gets a wild hair he will do it regardless!!! I have got mine from Best Belly Bands, around $6 a piece and you get to choose your fabric, super cute and well made.
