At first i thought it was maybe some hair in the pads of his foot, but no...there was none. It was odd. Anyway....this was just the first sign of what was to come. Maxwell ended up unable to stand one day. My vet had seen him and didn't find anything remarkable prior to this. So, this one day when he could not stand up, i rushed him there and she referred me to an ortho surgeon in the area. This surgeon told me it was his shoulders and knees and could not be fixed. I was a bit taken aback and asked him how this could happen all at once. Anyway....he kept insisting and told me i should get a cart for him. I called my vet and asked her to xray him to see if his knees or shoulders looked that bad...of course they did not. She referred me to texas a&m and he was immediately admitted and worked up for mri and most likely surgery on his cervical spine. He had two herniated discs! If it had progressed any further he would have been paralyzed for life...thankfully he still had deep pain reflex and was still aware of the need to use his bladder and bowels.
Sorry...this is long. My point is that sometimes things show up much later. She is probably going to be just fine...i don't want to scare you....but, just want to emphasize that you should watch closely for while. |
My concern also..... |
