Upset I read all these stories and I wonder what I'm doing wrong Lola is 7 1/2 months old and she does not listen well at all she has stopped the biting but whenever someone comes over she goes crazy are when I bathe or try to brush her hair she goes cra cra all over again and brushing her teeth that's a whole another story we can't use treats because she doesn't like any other than carrots. And when she wants something she goes bark at the fridge when I try to correct her my husband oh she just a baby look how cute she is so just give up and let her be a little wild girl lol you just have to love this little sweetie

I can relate! If Piper doesn't want to hear me, ain't nothin' I say gonna get her attention! I don't think you're doing anything wrong; each dog is different, responds differently, has it's own little quirks, and each is uniquely special. I'm amazed at how obedient some of these little gems are and admire their owners for what they've accomplished. Piper may not be in their league, but she's come a long way with me and I couldn't be more proud of her! Enjoy your little one for who she is (as you do) and continue 'training' on whatever level works and celebrate every success--big or small!

yea we use puppy pads too and he does great most of the time but sometimes he goes where ever he wants and it's frustrating because he knows where he's supposed to go but he still goes elsewhere and we feel that he thinks he's running the show and we have to put him in his place.

Here is the answer to your question! You answered it yourself!! Now don't think I am chastising you.....I most certainly am not! THAT would be like the tea kettle calling the coffee pot "nothing but full of hot water!!!" Mine are spoiled in other ways, other areas of their lives......but allowed to get away with some examples of bad behavior! I pick my battles, and if it something that is not a danger to the dogs, maybe just more of an inconvenience for me, I will allow more leeway in behavior..... My cousin had a really neat trick to stop her dog from barking at the fridge.....her dog also barked at her piano (she used to say the dog was seeing her mother's ghost sitting at the piano!!)....Kathy tied a string to a bath towel and put the towel on top of the fridge and on top of the piano....when the dog would stand in front of the fridge barking, Kathy jerked on the string, pulled that bath towel off the top of the fridge, landed on top of the dog and startled/scared the daylights out of her! She has NEVER barked at the fridge or at the piano ever again!! | |

I like the idea of the towel. I have the same problem though. My DH is the spoiler. I like a disciplined dog. I think the dog would be happier and so would I.
