| When I observed Jezebel with her litter, it was easy to see that her personality was totally different than her two sisters and one brother. She was the only one that came over to greet us. The other two girls would play but she was the one that would initiate it. The male sat by himself and didn't want to play with his sisters at all. She is still VERY social and never meets a stranger, be it human or dog. She loves to play and run and is afraid of nothing. When another dog isn't nice, she does not escalate but she does not give up trying to convince them to be friends, either. She is a great little hunter, and very much a terrier. But she is very independent and does not like to be in laps at all. When she is ready to sleep, she will come and lay up against me though. She is very interactive and tries to communicate and lets us know anytime she wants something. If she doesn't get her way, she lets out a quick growl / bark and stomps her front feet. Lets just say I understand how the correct term for a female dog (bitch) became a verb (bitching) and adjective (bitchy) when used to describe some humans or their actions! There is a lot that I don't know about Chuy because I got him as a rehome when he had just turned a year old. I don't know when he was neutered, but he does not hike his leg. I know that he spent a lot of time alone (50- 60 hours per week) in a laundry room. I know that he was trained not to lick mouths (previous owners told me), but he will lick my nose or chin. They also showed me he was trained to wait inside the door and not run out when his mistress came home from work. When I brought him home, the poor boy would not cross a threshold and go outside, and was actually quite uncomfortable when I put him down in the grass. What is that strange stuff that smushes down and isn't solid when I step on it? Five years later, he is still uncertain of grass, and always has at least one leg off the ground. When he walks in the grass it's like dogs that walk funny when they wear shoes. He does not have Jezebel's confidence, and looks to her for reassurance when something happens that is out of the ordinary. For instance, if there is thunder, he looks at her and sees that she doesn't care and he soon settles down. But he is the sweetest boy, and he loves being in laps. If he sees a lap, he thinks that is where he is supposed to be, even if it is the lap of a stranger. However, when he wants to sleep, he doesn't want anyone touching him. I know some of his behavior was due to training by his previous family and probably being alone so much and lack of being able to explore the outside world affected him as well, but I have no idea what his temperament started out like and if he was confident as a puppy or not. They are very different from one another but their personalities are complimentary. Chuy is clingy, wants laps, and jealous if Jezebel gets attention. But she is independent and doesn't want too much of it anyway and couldn't care less if he is in my lap. She wants to snuggle when she sleeps and he doesn't. Ying and yang, and they are very bonded.

Careful what you wish for LOL. I am not allowed to go the bathroom alone, and when we first got Mario, he wanted to sit on my lap while I was trying to potty .For Service Dog reasons, we have been trying to shift his focus to my daughter more than I, and I think in time, he will be faithfully loyal to us both. He sleeps with her, and she is in charge of the treat bag when we go out, so she offers a lot!!

| Mayzoo, sorry, I was mistaken. Chanel only had her papers to be a therapy dog, not a service dog. Mario tried to sit on your lap while you were peeing, OMG, that is way too funny! |

| Depends. Moki my big boy on the left..He loves me. Loyal to me. always next to me. Follows me everywhere. 3yrs old. Winnie on the left. Same thing. Both fight for me. Whimsy in the middle is a mommas girl. She can't be outta her sight. I've had previous dog male and female. They choose you they like most. Sometimes the one who spend all the time with them still isn't who they choose. My little 4lbs Winnie my smallest is the bravest not scared or anything. Will only bark for reason. My big Moki 6lbs is a scary cat.He will beat up the girls when he's tired of them. Whimsy really will go home with anyone. So imo it doesn't matter. I had boys that weren't very friendly...Just depends on the dog. I raise them all the same. JMO/JME |

| I find it fascinating to hear how different boys and girls are from each other, and even how one girl Yorkie can be totally different than the next girl, and same for boys. I guess that's what makes them all special, they all have other own distinct personalities! Just like us! LOL |

| I can not comment on a girl yorkie. We have only had girl Collies and just this past year we got our first yorkie. We chose a boy. We chose a boy because we have adored our boy cats. They seem more affectionate etc. Our girl collies are AMAZING dogs but like some girls, they can be more independent, have their moments of attitude etc. Let me tell you, our boy yorkie is all we could have wanted and more. He is funny, super affectionate, loving, cuddly... I could go on. I think you made a great choice. Although, I am guessing you can't go wrong either way. They are such great dogs. We never thought we could love a breed more than Collies but I was wrong, we will never not have a yorkie now either. Guess we will be a forever two dog family with a big and a little. We love them both the same!! Good luck. |

And, yup, he still tries to jump in my lap while I am pottying now and again LOL. He used to be very insecure when we first got him, but now he is just a happy little dude who still tries to get by with what he can away with .

| Hi Sharon, I have been busy and haven't gotten a chance to read your post the last couple of days. I noticed you said something about my thinking about "Cody" wearing dresses.....I am Zoey's Mom (Cody belongs to Matese). Zoey is a little girl, however, the little boy outfits are soooooo cute I might let her wear them !!!!! LOL Seriously though, you are going to have so much fun with your new little boy, and we can't wait to hear all about it. I know how hard it is to wait because I had to wait 6 weeks for Zoey. The time since I got her has passed so quickly though, she will be a year old Oct 9. Wishing you all the best, can't wait to see pictures !!!!! |

Along the lines of what someone already said, I'd probably say my girl loves me...but the boys are IN love with me...that's pretty accurate. But they're all different and unique and special as all heck.

| The time will go by quickly during the puppy stage and they change so much. I took pictures of Peanut every week and then monthly and I can't believe how much he changed. I love having those pictures to look back on. Take lots of pictures. I have both a boy and girl. They are very different but so special in their own way. Good luck with your new furbaby. |

| I have read somewhere that the boy dogs gravitate toward the female owner and the girl dogs get closer to the male. We have a male and a female and they both love me more! Just don't tell Toni I said that!
