YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() We bought a powder at Lowe's that kills fleas and ticks and many other unwanted bugs. We treat April, July and October or November. We use one that you put on the lawn and then it has to get wet and when it dries it is safe for pets, but they can't go on it from application time until it is dry again. We wet it with a hose if there is no rain expected and then I wait 3 days before I take the Yorkies on it just to be safe. I think we pay about $13 per bag and it does 2 of the applications but we have to do 2 backyards here and 2 front yards. I would treat it this fall before the frost hits and then do it again in the spring once it starts to really warm up, April down here in NC, but your schedule might be more like May, August and November there.

Any granular or powder works best. Its has to be done according to directions and you have to keep your pup separated for I think up to three days. I would suggest Spectracide Triazicide or Menards , Menards Premium insect control is a good one too You may need to set up flea trap in your home to just to be sure they are not imbedded in the carpets and other dark places. I make my own flea trap that work very very well. Below is the link to the thread with instructions. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/off...flea-trap.html
