| I can't put a top knot on her? I have a maltese and I want to put a top knot on her but this girl is making it impossible. She will let me touch her hair on her head but when I go near with a band or some bow she bites my hands and won't stay still. I have tried using treats whenever touching her hair but it won't work. Now her hair is getting long and it's all over her eyes. Do you suggest I still try to do it or should I just give her a cut? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Maybe try a tiny claw clip, rather than a band...? It would be faster to put in. You could also try using the Bark Genie to correct the biting thing...it may help...? Welcome to YT !

| I have a friend with a Maltese. The puppy's name is Violet. So everything is....you guessed it......violet. Clothes, halter, leash, hair bows etc. She does Violet's hair in two little pony tails with violet bows. It looks adorable. At first she resisted but now tolerates it. Waiting till she is tired out and spending time playing with her hair during one on one time helps. My pups tolerate top knots because they know after I do their top knots we usually go to the dog park or they at least get a walk. Just keep at it Telling her how beautiful she looks after done.

| My boy was like your girl, I took Ann's suggestion and used the tiny claw, it's fast, it holds, it works. After doing this for the summer (2 months) I can now use rubber bands, he still wiggles around, he is 4 y/o, adopted, never had a top knot, but is getting use to it. As for the biting I would be consistent with the command NO BITING in very firm voice, if that does not work, as Ann has suggested, the Bark Genie. Good luck BTW, your baby is adorable hot mess and all lol.
