| Is my puppy a yorkie? Hello, I just bought a puppy 2 days ago. But the lady I bought it from did not give me any papers. Also I only saw the mother of the puppy and she was a yorkie. But I didnt get to see the dad. So I am wondering if my puppy is not mixed? Doens't look like a full yorkie to me. And also he has shorter hair compared to a yorkie of his age(9 weeks). I love my puppy anyway I am just wondering if the lady lied me. https://www.dropshots.com/andstr/dat...08-12/11:35:53 https://www.dropshots.com/andstr/dat...08-12/11:37:40 https://www.dropshots.com/andstr/dat...08-12/11:36:17 https://www.dropshots.com/andstr/dat...08-12/11:40:01 https://www.dropshots.com/andstr/dat...08-12/11:42:08 |

| She looks Yorkie now but since you didn't go to a reputable breeder i.e. papers were included, parents lineage confirmed etc., you will have no idea until she is older. Unfortunately, you have put yourself in the position that you will have to take the breeders word for it even if she misled you. She's cute though so I hope you will love her no matter what! Wanted to add that I especially like this pic: https://www.dropshots.com/andstr/dat...08-12/11:36:17 So cute! What is her name and welcome to YT! | I also think he looks like a full yorkie. Please keep in mind that you cannot be sure, and DNA tests are not yet perfect so if you choose to DNA it may not be 100% correct. Your puppy is young. It is best if they stay with mom until 12 weeks, so keep an eye out for hypoglycemia, diarrhea, lethargy. Also he will most likely try his biting out on you. Momma usually teaches bite inhibition, so if/when he starts biting, say no bite and offer a chew. Also make sure he is eating every few hours. They need to eat a lot at this age. Let him eat as much as he wants (kibble only, no people food).

| Thank you very much for you advice, is much needed. Now I start to worry cause I read on the internet to not give a puppy too much food, and I only feed mine twice/day, and I feed him only wet food until my order arrives. As for dry food I ordered Royal Cannin for junior Yorkie, I hope that is good enough, I try to read as much information as I can from the internet but sometimes that can be missleading, I feel so bad now I didnt give my puppy enough food |

YT 1000 Club Member | I have known several people who had Yorkie pups that the hair just didn't grow as fast as some of the other Yorkie pups that other people had. A good friend of mine has 5 Yorkies and one of hers had short hair like that until she was several months old and she is lovely now (she is several years old). It looks like a Yorkie to me and like babies who some have long hair by the time they are a few months old and some are nearly bald until they are toddlers. It is all genetics and I would not judge it by how long their hair is. Sit back, relax and I hope that you enjoy your puppy. Most likely than not it is a purebred Yorkie if you bought it as such. I would not worry about it too much. Enjoy and welcome to Yorkie Talk.
