Winnies Hair was like that at 4 months. I haven't cut any of her hair except her ears. She has the big ears too! He looks like a yorkie that's proud of getting his hair all mussed up....just like my Winnie. Lol

I disagree. He is a pup still and at that age you cannot tell if he will have the desired long silky hair or not. Has nothing to do with being male. I have a male that can grow a full coat and a female that can never grow more than about 4" long. Time has nothing to do with it if the hair keeps breaking.

Our Laddy is all yorkie and his coat never grows past the floor. I say all yorkie and adorable too.

I've wondered if he's mixed with something too. But I've looked at tons and tons of yorkie pics and he looks like them. So I guess we'll never know. But I didn't know they could be considered mixed on coat length alone. He's almost 5 months. I figured his hair just hasn't grown in all the way. I may be wrong.

The coat length has nothing to do w if a yorkie is mixed or not. That is false. Also at only five months he couldn't have a very long coat anyway. The full coat takes years to come in.

I have never heard anything about a males hair being harder to grow than a female, I don't think that could be true. He looks pure yorkie to me and adorable!!!!!!! At 5 months he is still just a baby and his hair looks normal to me for his age. And there are all kinds of yorkie coats, just because they aren't perfect by show standards doesn't mean they aren't pure yorkie. I love your little guy he is beautiful!!

It almost sounds like the other poster is jealous that you have such a little cutie!

Lol well thank you. Her answer did conflict with almost everything I read online as well. He totally still has his puppy fur. Which would make sense that if it hasn't fully grown in yet (which it hasn't ) that it won't be long. Plus he's only 5 months old. Surely that has alot to do with it too.

I don't know if we are looking at the same picture. He looks like he has a pretty good start on his coat length to me. My male parti color yorkie's coat was about that length at 4 months old and was almost to the floor at a year before I cut it off. I have seen many purebred yorkies with much sparcer, shorter coats at that age.
