I have never heard anything about a males hair being harder to grow than a female, I don't think that could be true. He looks pure yorkie to me and adorable!!!!!!! At 5 months he is still just a baby and his hair looks normal to me for his age. And there are all kinds of yorkie coats, just because they aren't perfect by show standards doesn't mean they aren't pure yorkie. I love your little guy he is beautiful!!
It almost sounds like the other poster is jealous that you have such a little cutie!
