| ![]() So I'm not feeling very well today so I'm trying to relax in bed on my phone looking at classified ads. I see a ad for a free yorkie. I'm thinking yeah right who just gives their yorkie away. I click on the ad anyway just out of curiosity and the ad was posted 9 minutes ago saying that their yorkie is pregnant and they are taking her to the shelter today if nobody takes her!!! My heart dropped she is a beautiful girl. I contacted the owner still thinking the ad was fake and he says they can't afford the dog or puppies and wants her gone NOW!!! I want to help this poor dog. I don't know if I should take in a dog that I know nothing about and I have a young pup without all his shots. I contacted a few people but nobody wants a pregnant dog and the owner said he is only giving her a few more hours at his home. |

| ![]() Sounds like a scam of some sort. Someone recently took my boys' photo and posted it on Facebook saying the dogs were found on the street and "one is very pregnant." The guy who posted it got a lot of attention and offers for the dogs. He said he was taking them to a shelter. If the person in the ad is telling the truth, the shelter will take care of the dog.

But if you are still interested in helping, can you ask him to send pictures and maybe see from there?

| ![]() I learned a long time ago I can not save every sad dog case I come across, especially involving Yorkies or Chihuahuas. "If you cant stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen", so I dont go to ANY places that I know will break my heart... Then there is a huge likelihood this is nothing but a scam...take your money or even lure you to his property and....???? You have a brand new puppy that has not been completely vaccinated. You really have NO idea what is actually going on with this other little dog....what was she bred with? Why is he in such a hot hurried rush to throw this momma away.....the complete lack of concern or compassion for this pregnant momma, appalls me. You need to stay away from this train wreck.....if you did not already have a brand new unvaccinated baby on your property, you could consider rescuing this pitiful momma......but you are looking at a money pit and a heartbreak, all rolled into one. This deal stinks, to me.....I would advise you to stay away....if you are compelled to save this momma, you are looking at $$$$$ plus contaminating your property AND your current puppy with any diseases/parasites (parvo is rampant) this unfortunate creature is burdened with. I HAD to adopt a realistic outlook with my involvment with every unfortunate case I was exposed to. "If it hurts, dont do it...". This keeps me away from the pet want ads, pet stores, and animal shelters....I can not save every unfortunate animal out there, and it kills me to see them.....so I just have to stay away. The people that devote their hearts and lives and pocket books to animal shelters and rescue centers.....OMG!! I have such immense respect and love for these people....they are doing gut wrenching, heart breaking, never ending, often unappreciated work, taking care of these unfortunate, lost, uncared for souls.....thank God for THEM and the never ending work they do, because I could never go there! THAT kind of work and involvement requires a strength that I just do not have. The most effective thing I can do is donate whatever $$$$ I can spare, to help with these babies (I do most of my shopping thru the Amazon.com site that is geared towards donating a portion of what I spend on Amazon, to Yorkie Haven, and I try to get involved with their flea markets, booths, and the annual bidding that Yorkie Haven has....that is what I can do to benefit the most helpless of dogs...) | ![]() Sorry to waste anyone's time the ad caught my eye and I really wanted to help this poor dog but not put my current pups at risk. Thank you all for the advise. I just don't understand how people just throw their dogs away without another thought |

there is a good chance that there is no dogs being thrown away, no dogs in danger, no dogs at all. Just some low life bleepity bleep trying to scam people by appealing to their heart.

| ![]() Please don't feel you "wasted" anyone's time in your thread, your concern and question has educated more ppl then you realize and will educate all that will read it in the future. That's what YT is all about, educating ppl, new and old. I am like Judy "yorkiemom1" I will NOT go NEAR shelters, fairs where they have dogs up for adoption, I am very weak when it comes to dogs that need love and a good home. I volunteered for a short time right after my 17 y/o girl left me for Rainbow Bridge, it was heart wrenching to see such sad eyes, then I my adopted boy and had to stop volunteering, my rescue needed me. My Cody is not dog friendly reason I only have one, reason why I MUST stay away from any place that has dogs up for adoption. I help by donating my local no kill shelter where I briefly volunteered. STOP reading those ads PLEASE. If you are looking to save a life or add to your family, please rescue from a shelter.

You are absolutely correct...I feel so dumb. He just texted me a few minutes ago asking if I was willing to meet him at Walmart and pay $100. I blocked his number.

| ![]() Why would he want you to pay him $100 if it was real? If he took the dog to the shelter he wouldn't be getting paid anything. So if he waited longer, he could have gotten some offers, not threatening to take the dog to the shelter asap. And yes, a pregnant dog at the shelter would be taken care of and not put to sleep. Just too many red flags, for sure this guy is not for real. On another note, for people who are a little weary of meeting people on Craigslist... If you don't meet them at their home, ask them to meet you at a bank. Cameras everywhere! Or the police department. We buy a lot of furniture on CL. You usually have to go to their house. You can't just meet up somewhere. If someone is coming to your house, give them directions, but don't give your address. That way they physically have to come down there. Instead of giving your address to a stranger and have them not show up (or never intended to) and come break into your house and steal whatever you were trying to sell.

As I posted earlier, someone used my boys' photo to try to solicit donations or sell them on Facebook.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I learned this real quick when I first started selling puppies....some crazy man came to my home and I had to call the police to get him out! Then I worried about this maniac coming back and breaking in when I was not there....lordy, you have to be sooooo careful and trust NO ONE! Now, I always have Mr.Smith and Wesson or Mr.Barretta within reach, in every room of my home.....and Lady Colt in my purse.
