| Generally, it is my understanding that Yorkies get along well with all other animals. I brought a nine-month-old female Yorkie into a household of four cats and she loves them all. They love her also . . . as she doesn't ever tried to chase them! I think your Yorkie would do fine with addition of a kitten. Having said that, you have to handle initial introduction very well ( for the sake of everyone – the little new kitten as well) and there is a lot of information on the internet about that. Good luck and let us know. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I have 3 kitties with Galen. They do well. He does want to play with them. But no avail they want to play with him. A kitten might want to play with him more.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | When we had a cat (RIP), Wylie got along great with her.

YT 1000 Club Member | I have had a cat for 9 years. She is an outdoor cat though as 3 of the 4 people who live in the house are allergic to cats. When I brought home a 9 year old Yorkie he calmly approached the cat and she promptly smacked him across the face and they have gotten along great ever since. Then I brought home 2 puppies and one approached her with gusto and wanted to play and she quickly smacked the puppy down and the other puppy sat back and watched and did not go near her. For several days it was like this and then the bold puppy learned to approach the cat slowly and the quieter puppy also approached slowly. As long as both puppies don't try to jump the cat at once they all get along. She will quickly raise her paw and the puppies will cower to the ground before her. I think a bold kitten will hold it's own with your yorkie. Just don't get the quiet meek one of the litter. They will learn to get along most likely. Good luck!
