I have had a cat for 9 years. She is an outdoor cat though as 3 of the 4 people who live in the house are allergic to cats.

When I brought home a 9 year old Yorkie he calmly approached the cat and she promptly smacked him across the face and they have gotten along great ever since.

Then I brought home 2 puppies and one approached her with gusto and wanted to play and she quickly smacked the puppy down and the other puppy sat back and watched and did not go near her. For several days it was like this and then the bold puppy learned to approach the cat slowly and the quieter puppy also approached slowly. As long as both puppies don't try to jump the cat at once they all get along. She will quickly raise her paw and the puppies will cower to the ground before her. I think a bold kitten will hold it's own with your yorkie. Just don't get the quiet meek one of the litter. They will learn to get along most likely. Good luck!
