| They will start to swell in their little area down there first - then bleeding starts. As for how they start to act it really depends on the dog. Bridget has really has no signs until she is in heat then she acts really diff for a while-she will hang out with my husband only and Gizmo (our stud) isn't even allowed to look at her until she is ready. LOL Our other female Zaylee is 100% a baby and she gets really bad when she starts to come in. She moans more and will not leave my side for anything, but to go potty. So unfortunatly no signs really to go by except the swelling - just keep an eye down there. Also, Bridget was almost a year before she came in and Zaylee was 9 months.

| My yorkie hasnt been in heat yet but they way that I tell my chihuahua is going into heat is she will start to lick that area alot(yuck! ). She doesnt really swell much so its hard for me to tell that way and she barely bleeds. BUt my boxer- holy cow!!! Thats another story. She swells so much its crazy!! so needless to say, I can always tell when she is going to start. PLus she has a "smell" about her.
