| Meet Mya and maybe provide a little feedback Hello! I just recently acquired my new yorkie, Mya. She is two yrs maybe 5lbs (I really think her hair is weighing her down, lol) and super cuddly. She literally could lay on my couch or in my bed all day!! This is my first experience with a super tiny dog, I have a morkie named Duke also that started out small and over night he just grew into a giant but his size suits his huge personality. Because they are so different I just wanted to hear from some been there did thaters that might have seen some of these concerns before. Mya does not play. If I get up she will jump down off the couch and follow me wherever I go but she does not as Duke will play tug of war with blankets or "beat up" her stuffed dolls and when my 3 yr old says chase me - Duke is on it… Mya is under something like she wants to never be found again. We have had Duke since he was about 3 months he stayed shy for all of about 5 min and then he was just non stop he will be one yr in july. Also Mya doesn't jump up on things like tbe couch or try to climb the stairs. I have noticed though that unlike Duke she will sit quietly for her grooming, put on hair bows and dresses without a complaint, and "run" to the sound of the treat bag opening or food bowl filling up. She eats well but I wet her kibble and mix it with a touch of wet food for softness. She doesn't seem to like crunchy stuff. So I guess my question is really just does she sound normal? The more quiet pace of her personality is a nice change i.just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. I have also noticed she sort of lays down and army creeps to you when u call her but she may just need to learn her new name and trust us more I guess but let me know if that's unusual. I will also say she never saw a leash before we got her i really think she was carried everywhere. So I am trying to leash train while reinforcing potty training out doors vs pee pads or diapers (her prev owners were a little on the don't know don't care side of things. I have been killing fleas since I got her and had to do shots because I wasn't sure she was current) ) |

YT 1000 Club Member | Yes I do think she sounds normal. I have a little male just like her and the first week of adjustment after I brought him home I started thinking he was sick. Lol. My other two are hell on paws, but Medi just likes to chew on things and keep tabs on ppl. He would probably lay down all day if my female Veau didn't harass him all the time. |

| Piper is my first experience with 'little' and she was about 4yrs when I brought her home. Piper is not much of a player--game of keep-away when the mood strikes and tug-o-war if she is so inclined. She's rather quiet, tends to follow me (though less compulsively these days). When you mentioned Mya's army crawl, I can relate. I know nothing of Piper's background, but to this day when I call her, she puts her little head down and lumbers to me looking for all the world like a little steer...I know, I know!! 9.5 lb Yorkie being equated to a bovine, but...! Anyway, I may be a biased, but I think your little girl sounds absolutely fine and perfect and too, too sweet! |

| Not every yorkie is hyper, although my now passed 4 girls were. I have met many young yorkies that are so calm the first one I met I thought the dog was sick lol, then I met other yorkies with the same calmness, my Cody is a rescue, he was never abused, just medically neglected, he is the calmest yorkie I have ever had. He has his wild zoomies in the backyard. In doors if I am sitting he prefers to cuddle next to me. Mya sounds perfectly normal to me.

| Thank you all for your replys and for such a warm welcome!! I read through a few of the threads here similar to mine and got good ideas on ways to play with Mya. I tried the gotcha game last night, and she gave me this LOOK lol - something similar to my grandmother when us kids would change the channel during her soap operas - it was hilarious! So I then tried it with a small squeaky toy and she grabbed it with her mouth and just took off "running" with it. Since her legs are super short her run is more of a shuffle but I'll take it. Does anyone know how to shrink pics from a phone so I can post her picture? |

| My last yorkie (RIP Brandi) was extremely laid back. She liked nothing better to be in my lap all day and night. She never over exerted her self. She probably was the only dog that never panted that's because she didn't believe in running! Whenever she got tire of walking, would come to a complete stop and I would have to carry her. Duchess my current yorkie is on speed. In fact she only knows two speeds fast and faster. I am convinced that she was speedy gonzales in another life. She is probably the only pet that I have that never sleeps. Even when she is resting her eyes are open mainly because she is so nosey and has to investigate every little noise she hears. |
