I am sorry but there is things in Dogs Naturally and a few others that I find useful. I choose live my life in a more natural way. (I have a number of medical issues )I also choose to have Galen and Kitties live the same way. I believe in the use of herbs to help. There are drugs we take that are derived from herbs, spices and mushrooms. I give Galen and the kitties cocconut oil and a few other things naturally. I feed a raw food diet. To me, this is the best for my babies. I even used DFA to give me a starting point to look at foods. These are tools. I would not rely on one thing to be a bible for what I do. And yes, if I find something interesting on Dogs Naturally I will post on my page. If you don't want to see it scroll by. . . But others may find it useful. We have discussions about the topics. . . . Just my opinion . . .

I've worked with very aggressive, dangerous dogs who no one else could or would even approach, using only positive reinforcement techniques with very good results - have never been bitten by any dog since I was a kid and was bitten 3 times then. No need to punish or frighten a dog to control its mind and body - just work with it alone, establish trust, then respect and begin to motivate them to enjoy the "games" you play teaching them how to control their impulses and perform certain commands for rewards they want and in the process teaching them a new way of behaving and boundaries they must not cross. The dog of course has to be healthy, not brain-damaged or in pain for these techniques to work. Aggressive, dominant out-of-control dogs are far easier to rehab than those totally shut down and frozen with terror from aggressive, out-of-control humans.

Honestly I'm somewhere in the middle myself in between holistic and traditional medicine and think both have their place. I've been spending a lot of time with a Golden Retriever who was diagnosed with 2 bad types of cancer right before Christmas, he was pretty bad and the regular vet advised putting him down sooner rather than later as the bone cancer is hard on them. The owners wanted to at least TRY something else, these dogs are their babies, so they visited a holisitic vet (who also uses traditional medicine in conjunction when needed)..... anyway here we are April 17th, and he's still doing pretty good, all considering.

They're not going to let him suffer but they, and I, really don't feel it's his time quite yet. They immediately began giving him some of these Chinese medicines that the vet recommended, getting acupuncture, etc etc, along with the traditional meds and pain meds etc, but anyway, they swear this is some kind of miracle drug they give him. It perks him right up. At this point they know his time is limited so they're kind of just doing whatever works right now (fighting the blood cancer and bone cancer), but she thinks about all of this missed good time they would've had with him if they had put him down like originally recommended. And maybe it's just pure luck or coincidence but meh, I'm a believer in a lot of different things and I don't think you can or should completely write anything off.

I just took the article as kind of funny because you see a lot of people blindly posting things on FB, etc, and usually from well intentioned animal lovers that are just clueless or ignorant. The PETA posts crack me up the most, and people think if you're an animal lover, you HAVE to be a huge peta supporter. :rolleyes:

Yes I do believe there is a use for traditional too. . . I am so glad that your friends are having good luck for their baby. Guildenstern died of small cell lymphoma. So I can relate. . . It is true that some follow blindly. Best thing is read something . . . Then do more research about it. . . See what is right for you.

There has to be a special place for people who know certain things don't work and make money off of people who think it's a magic answer like that allergy test by Dr.Dodds. They are scamming people with some of there stuff and it's just sad and wrong because at the end of the day it's the dogs who suffer.

I've been staying quiet but your statements are really bothering me.

1st off, if it was a scam, it would not have helped Turbo @ all & many other dogs that did get tested w/NutriScan.

Turbo is not suffering anymore. It was the best $280 I've spent. For you to say these things, you are also talking down to me & my decisions to help my pet. I won't even bring up what you said on my other thread. Insulting.

There is no science backing it up. I even posted a link saying that. She also didn't do the things people do who have a product that is good with science to back it up. Nothing I ever said was insulting. I'm glad you got lucky with Turbo but that doesn't mean it works. Unless people are rich they will end up spending there money on this test rather then getting the real proven methods that actually work done to help there dog. I wanted this test to be real and work but it's just not and it's not recommended by other vets and there is no science to back it up.

Just because it is new. Doesn't mean it doesn't work. Look at the facts . . . If it wasn't for moldly bread we would not have penicillin. And they thought he was nuts. . .Something that we were just told from a top ankle surgeon in the country. He told My DBF to try stem cell therapy for his ankle. . .now it is classified as experimental. A lot of doctors do not believe in it. . . But people are finding it is working for them. . . This doesn't mean it is a scam.

I don't blindly believe and follow everything my Dr and Vet says. . . That is why we have second opinions and experimental procedures. If I listened to the first Dr. I would not be walking today. . . Fact ! . . . I went to another Dr., though he didn't believe in alternative medicines and therapies, he had me try them and it worked . .

Just because you vet thinks is is a scam doesn't mean it is. . . There is a lot of vets that sell you on things that are not always better for your dog. They want to make money. I question my vet. I don't give Galen or the kitties all the shots they want me to give them. I am lucky. My Vet is not a pusher. He tells me what is really needed and what is not. And also he doesn't make me give them any shots I don't want. . .

Please don't assume things before knowing all the facts . . . Please open your minds up to new things . . . You might be surprised . . .

Look at the other thread and the health section. Phill posted some really great stuff about that might help you under stand why many of us think it doesn't work. Most vets I have talked to say that test is crud and a waste the only vets I can find that back it up are those of that group. I read through and looked at some of there products and videos and it my opinion sometimes they are playing off of the fact that people love there dogs. If everyone swears by this test let's use Callie as an example I know what meats make her sick so who wants to buy the test to test it? I don't have the money to do it but if every one swears by it lets do it! I'm not joking I will gladly follow every rule and everything for to a t and I will be happy to list the ones I know she has a problem with before any results come back in. My dad's best friend was told he would never be able to walk but his mom took his to chiropractors continuously and eventually he was able to walk. I'm not necessarily against things that aren't normal health care things when it's a last ditch effort but I also fully believe sometimes people just get lucky.

Actually Taylor. . . I researched Saliva testing. . . Your link is one persons opinion blog. . . There are many differnet opinions. Also the person said there was no research done. . Well there you are. Just because this vet did not do research. Doesn't mean it doesn't work. . . There is a lot of people that have tried it and it worked . There are too many close minded people in the field.
