He has been refusing to get up with me this week when I take the kids to school and instead buries himself under his blanket and when I get home from taking my kids to school I climb back into bed with him.

| Teddy is picky about where I sit! On our older couch downstairs I have to sit in one spot and lay a pillow down for him to lay in his spot...on other furniture he will jump next to me and make me pet him and then get down on the floor! At my house he isn't allowed on the new couch so he pouts and sprawls out on the cool floor!

| ZoE lays down right next to me. Right now, I'm sitting on the sofa and she is laying against my right thigh. She very rarely lays down on my lap. When she does I relish it and won't move for anything. Of course ZoE is known to time her lap time just so...you know, right when I'm thinking I should probably get up and go use the bathroom, she'll crawl on my lap and snuggle down.

| In the recliner, I have one on my chest, one in my lap and one laying next to me between thigh and chair. In bed, same one on chest, unless I roll over then she's on the small of my back. One laying next to my legs, and one that thinks she has to be laying on my pillow next to my head. Hard to move around but its worth it. Sometimes one will wake me up at night, pawing at me ,to say will you roll over I want my chest spot back. Too funny |

| Cody has always laid on my lap or he'll lay tight up against me if I'm on the sofa. It was the bed that he wouldn't come near me. I have to assume his prev. owner allowed him on the bed, but not next to them, Cody would lay up on top the extra pillows near me, every night when it was time for me to go to bed, I would take him off the pillow, put him under the blankets next to me, he would fly out and dash back on top of the pillow. I wouldn't give up, I wanted him near me, against me. About 3 months of doing this he stayed a few minutes then out from under the blankets and back on top of the pillow, but at least he stayed a few minutes. Now into 8 months, stay under blanket a few minutes and comes on MY pillow, with his hind feet touching my head, like he was testing me to see if it was ok, I was thrilled, he did this for one month, mean while I am still putting him under my blanket next to me. 9th month, I put him under my blanket and he stayed. Every night after that I would hold the blanket in the air and tell him come under the blankie with momma and he would. When he would get to warm he would come out, but now would sleep on top of the blankets pressed up against my back. It took 9 months of me showing him it was ok to sleep next to me. For 2 1/2 years he was with prev. owner not allowed to be next to them, it took 9 months to teach him it was ok to sleep under the blanket or next to me. It's been 8 months now, and every night if he is not under the blanket he is pressed up next to me. I think with rescue dogs being trained what is not acceptable it takes a while to undo what he was taught, Cody is my first rescue and that was my experience with him. All my other babies I raised from 8 weeks old, they were raised to know it's ok to sleep next to me or under the blankets, my girls were either on my lap or pressed into my thigh when I was sitting on the sofa. Teek is only with you a few months, I would keep putting him on my lap, show him it's ok for him to be there, even if he does get off, if he likes the lap one day you will put him on your lap and he may stay. Being on a lap creates a lot of heat, some dogs don't want all that warmth, laying next to you keeps them comfortably warm. Never give up hope lol

| XFOxyx, how often does Ripley sit like that? Very cute, but I think it would hurt your neck after a while, but maybe not since he is obviously tiny. Do you have to get permission to try to see the TV? I lie onon my side on the loveseat and she lies in front of me, using me as her back rest. I wish she would sit on me sometimes because sometimes I get tired of watching TV lying on my side, but if I lie on my back there is less room for her and she looks at me until I shift for her. If I sit on the sofa she wants to lie between me and the armrest, she doesn't want to be on the exposed side, but sometimes will lie on the center seat if hubby and I are on opposite ends of sofa. I wish she'd be a little more snuggly and sit on my lap. My thigh seems to be a useful spot for her to put her hand on when she is supporting herself to scratch. She rarely sits ON my lap, however she will do it when there are people over that she is not very familiar with, or when my 3 year old niece is over. She barely got off me when we had our Super Bowl party. Not sure if she is nervous for me or for herself. We are getting our first skin grand-child in September. I'm curious to see how she does with that... |

| Tessa is definitely a lap dog. I'm just barely sitting down and she's on the footstool ready to jump on my lap and go to sleep. She has a fit if I put my iPad or laptop on my lap, barks at me until I finally give in. However, the left side if the bed is her's and she doesn't get near me at all. She has a warm snuggle blankie she sleeps on. So Then I'm on the iPad reading all the YT new posts. Enjoy every minute of it. |

| Teddy has never been a 'lap dog'. He likes to sit next to me or near me but he seems to get hot or aggravated if he's on my lap. He does, sometimes, sit on my lap but it seems like he's always waiting for an opening somewhere else on the couch. When there is an opening, he promptly claims it! When he was a baby, I tried to sleep with him during the first week home. I cuddled him next to me but he always found his way behind my knees or near my feet. Now that he's older, he likes to sit right under my neck or on my shoulders more than my lap. The lap, though, is a special treat but not one I expect |

| If I'm sitting indian style, Emma sits in my lap. If I'm laying she lays close but not touching but still very much under me. If I'm in bed on my side, she likes to lay on my hip.

YT 1000 Club Member | Last night I got an almost lap dog. Jahryn was on the couch at one end with her feet on the middle cushion and I was on the other end with my feet on the outer side of the middle cushion. Teek got up on the couch and looked around and saw there was not room (although he could have sat next to me if he wanted) and so he laid down on my legs and made himself comfy. It is a start and I will take all I can get. When I put him on my lap he stands up and pushes his body away from me so his feet are pushing into me. I pet him and talk to him and sometimes I even try to lay him down on me but he will have none of that. He has sat in my lap a few times, so maybe he will someday. When I first got him and I would try to snuggle and cuddle him he would put his paws on my chest and do the same thing, he gave up after a week of my pulling him close and kissing the back of his neck and telling him how much I loved him and how cute he was. I thought the lap thing would go about the same way, but I will keep trying. I enjoy our snuggles as when I pull him close to me now he hugs my shoulder with his head and when he really pushes against me with his body I think he is trying to hug me back. He is a loveable dog and so I try not to push but I do try to put him on my lap so he can see that it is acceptable. Maybe it will take me 9 months, but I will keep at it!

| Lola will not sit on our laps at all, sometimes I try to force her but if she in not allowed to slobber all over my face she will wiggle till I let her go, she sits near us but not touching us and if I reach over to pet her she leaps down off the couch, at night she sleeps in a small bed at the foot of our bed between my husband and I. In the morning she rolls over and lets me scratch her tummy. It's odd she is affectionate in so many ways but yet is not a lap dog or craves petting. There is one situation where she insists on trying to get on my lap, and that is when I am in the bathroom, she could be sound asleep on another floor and if she hears me go into one of the bathrooms she bolts in, then practically leaps into my arms. Perhaps I should upholster an old toilet and seat and put it next to my couch so I could get a little more lap time out of her

| Bailey loves to sit right on his butt on our legs. Does not look comfy to us, but hey, what do we know As we have a cat as well, and they do NOT get along, we need to keep each on separate floors The cat is 13yo, sleeps a lot, so is happy to stay u/s from 6:30am til 8pm, at which time she can have the run of the house, as Bailey goes to bed in my room with the door closed. Bailey likes to lie in between our legs when we sit on our lazy boy couch and blanket covering our legs. He is not a cuddler, much to our disappointment, but when 'bed time' is called, he crawls right up onto my daughter's chest and looks so forelorn This is such a treat when it happens. During the night he crawls under all the blankets, curls up and stays there til morning. Is my Bailey the only one who throws off so much heat?? So surprising for an 8 lb'er. |

YT 1000 Club Member | Teek is warmer than most bigger dogs I have owned! Teek is sleeps with me and I am never warm. He snuggles up to me though and he keeps me toasty. I am amazed at how much heat can come off a 7 lb dog. He is not allowed to sleep under our covers, per my husband's rules, although he would like to. He sleeps on our comforter but then he has his own blanket that he can snuggled into and cover up with. One night I was not covering him fast enough so he grabbed his blanket in his teeth and tried to pull it on him. He could not get it to move, so he gave up, looked at me (I was laughing too hard to help) and when I didn't pull it up he tried it again and then gave up and glared at me. I managed to get him tucked him through my laughter at that point. He likes his entire body covered, even his head at night. I can feel the heat from him coming through the blankets between us. I always know where he is at night though. I have "mom" instincts that always allow me to know where the baby is sleeping.
