| menstrual cycle hello everyone. so my lil sophie i believe is getting her period. for the first time she just turned a year old on march 16. now i meant to get her fixed a long time ago but then she broke her leg and had to get surgery so it got put on the back burner. i am going to call her vet tomorrow but can anyone tell me. how long the bleeding can last? its just some spotting nothing heavy yet. do dogs get cramps like us women do? also does the vet have to wait til she is done with this cycle in order to operate on her. thanks |

As for cramps, I don't have answer for that, but I do know that some tend to get moody. Just make sure you keep a very close eye on her, don't let her outside by herself as a male male dog can smell a female in heat miles away. Also make sure she is not around any unaltered males.

| I am going through the same thing. I made an appointment my little one to get spade and a few days later she goes into heat. I had to put a diaper on as she was spotting pretty heavy for about a week. I now have to wait until the end of May to reschedule her appointment Major bummer because I want to take her to the dog park which is her absolute favorite place to be. So for now, we just have to settle for walks until I can get her spayed. I keep her away from all dogs and she hates it because running and barking and playing with other dogs is all she want's out of life. |
