| First Haircut/Grooming When? This is my first post to the group so let first say Hello to everyone. Really find this site as a great aid for taking care of my Yorkie. My yorkie's name is Ollie. He goin on 14 weeks old. How old should Ollie be before he gets his first grooming/haircut. He's been getting his bath about once a week, sometimes a bit longer than once a week. While puppies are cute at this age I think he'd look much better with a nice grooming/haircut. (If he was one of my sons, I would have already been to the barber). Thing is, I don't want to do it too early. Is there a certain age we should wait for before we give a grooming/haircut? Thanks |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I do all my grooming at home bc I think it's much safer...and then you can groom at any time you want. If you want to go to the groomer though, then you'll have to wait until all his vaccines are complete. Btw, welcome to YT !

| Welcome. A puppy should not go to a groomer until it has had all of it's shots.

| I don't know if there is a "right time" to bring them to the groomers other than making sure all their vaccines are in check. I brought Mitsy to the groomers a little after all her vaccines were done; I bring my maltese to get groomed pretty often and wanted to expose her to it early on. I pretty much waited until she needed a haircut because baths I could do myself at home.
