| Here they are saying it took place at Crufts. The dog died in Belgium. That is what they are saying here duev to the time frame of the poison and death. I'm sure Crufts does not want it said that it happened there. And everyone wishes it had not. Will probably never be resolved if they don't have footage of an intruder. We just had a show here in my town and everyone was so uptight. Wouldn't leave to go to eat or the bathroom without someone to stay with their babies. So very sad.

| It WILL all come out - our BBC is very good at that kind of thing. And believe me - as soon as I know - you'll all know....

| Wow, that was short and sweet and good news for dog shows if it's true. Be nice if they shared their sources to back-up their claims. Until it's for rock-steady sure this didn't happen at the show and they have arrested the person(s) who planned to and gave the dog poison and know when, I'd still be scared to death to bench show a dog without his own personal security for when I went to the bathroom or ate lunch. And after this, I'd be afraid of a copycat poisoner at an open show. Poor Jagger - my heart still hurts for the way he died. He deserved a life. Hope they nail the rat who did this soon.

| The local emergency vet clinic here said it seemed to be a very lethal combination of poisons. They now have their vet interns studying poisons currently.

| Oh yes, BBC is very good and they will certainly be all over this incident. Won't help the dog though.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Look sadly here in North America we have already changed our practices. But for sure this is another threat level above and beyond merely making dogs sick.... at shows. So real life implication for me; I can't go to the next Nationals alone - hubby must come - or another breeder friend. I can't keep all my dogs safe alone. I will have 2 veterans competing and one class dog. We will have obedience dog trials and conformation events, and rally trials. So planning is necessary

| Of course it won't - but hopefully they'll get to the real truth.

We as breeders show breeders will respond quickly. If it can happen at Crufts it can happen here. We know we have nutsos on dogs, we have PETA etc. And this could spur others onto similar acts. As I have said we have had incidents before here in Canada and USA - but not like this. And yes it is very sad, but with what we have invested in our dogs, and our love of dogs we act very much like an overprotective Mama to our dogs. It is a relatively for the most part small show world we live in, and many of us know one another. Crufts is different as a few other very very large shows where-in the bulk of exhibitors do not know one another - well at least by sight.

| What a sick person to do such a thing! Hopefully all shows world wide will take notice and beef up security. Keeping the general public separate from the dogs and bench areas could be looked into. Or perhaps the shows could hire "Watchers" who will stay with a breeder's other animals when they are actually showing one of their dogs and can't be with the pets not in the ring. Still.. the thought someone could be so sadistic is disturbing. And the fact they experimented to find SLOW acting poisons...So not only wanting to kill the dog- but to want them to suffer. As far as I am concerned(and it may sound harsh) but people capable of that kind of cruelty are literally a waste of oxygen.
