| Just got back from vet! Hi all just wanted to update you. Well, Bella fasted successfully last night and we went to the vet and got her blood drawn. She did so good (poor baby). Brought her home fed her and have to bring her back at exactly 11:00 to get one more blood sample . Anyways there is other news! When I got her on Nov. 11 (13wks) she weighed in at a whopping 1.3 lbs . Well today the little cutie pie weighed 3.3 lbs.! She is growing so fast! I also have some really gross news She has EARMITES! Im really grossed out, and just went on a site to read about them and it said its contagious to other animals. Now, tell me if Im wrong but Im a little upset because Bella must have had these when I got her. and I brought her to the vet the day after I got her and he didnt (catch) that she had them. I dont get it, she must have had them before I got her because Louie didnt have them. errrrrrrrrrrrrr , anyways......he treated her for them, and I treated Louie when I got home just in case and Im going to go to petsmart after to buy some special shampoo to make sure that these buggers GO AWAY! ICK! mg:

| Earmites are pretty common Don't be too grossed out. Mites are pretty common coming right from the breeders. (Lots of people have posted about this before). They are also pretty easy to get rid of so never fear. Happy to hear your baby is growing like a little WEED!! Just enjoy her now because she will NEVER be THIS LITTLE again, lol!

| Unfortunately it is really difficult to keep your dog or cat earmite free for all of it's life unless you never let it outdoors. Chester was diagnosed with earmites last week when he went to the vet's office. My roomate just got a new kitten and that's where we think they might have come from. Also, my dad's dog had earmites and he treated them, but my roomate took her daschund up there and they were probably transferred to him before the medication was completed. It's so difficult... especially when you have a lot of pets like we do in our household. One thing I was wondering and I hope someone can answer this, is it really necessary to sanitize EVERYTHING in the house, like bedding, litterboxes, food bowls, carpet and such after an earmite ordeal? My vet said yes (but as has been stated in other posts, I have big issues with her), but I read on the internet that the eggs and mites die quickly after leaving the pet. That's why they can't survive on humans... Anyway, just curious if anyone knew. Glad other than that your Bella is doing okay!

| Hi and thanks for the well wishes for Bella. I read online that you should give them a flea and tick bath afterward too, but I asked my vet when I went back today and they said NO dont do that. I forgot to ask about all the cleansing of the whole house but I dont feel its necessary. Hope this helps and I look forward to hearing your responses.

| I don't think you need to go crazy cleaning the whole house either. Just treat your dog....and clean your house as you always would. You know - your bedding, etc., get washed anyway. I would vacuum very well and then make sure you throw the vacuum bag away. Put a new clean one in. It's no problem cleaning his food dishes, etc Wash his clothes if he wears them. Most of these things won't be much extra work. I've had pets for one hundred years -- and have had ear mites a couple of times - I got rid of them successfully just using the medicine the vet recommended. Good Luck! Carol Jean |

| ear mites are better killed by using revolution if she had them long it could have trailed to the body and cause a mite mange (not seen for the naked eye) I would not bathe them in a shampoo unless theyre scratching then use the oatmeal shampoo for relief. The revolution you get from the vet it works in 24-48 hours and rids it all for 30 days I would do it again in 30 days to be safe.
